Honestly just get off the internet if you get offended by such childish and meagre words. Also you’re playing a video game with violence in and that’s ok but being called a “noob” is really wrong and I have to report that person for it. USE THE DAMN PROFANITY FILTER
Even with the profanity filter, all interactions within the Blizzard Social Features Should and must be Family-Friendly.
Saying someone is a “noob” is negative behaviour and can be seen as offending.
It’s a bad argument saying “don’t get offended” because it brings no negative value towards you.
We could take racism as example, the one who’s racist doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong.
Racism is indeed a bit worse of a topic, but it’s technically somewhat the same in practice.
The one who’s racist against someone else doesn’t get negative feelings directed towards him, but the one who’s recieving his words can feel offended by it.
Everyone takes words in differently.
The profanity filter is here so it’s more family-friendly incase someone does break the rules by talking in such manner within chat.
This doesn’t mean vulgar language is allowed, if at all “noob” isn’t a expletive word.
You’re responsible for your behaviour, and when you bought the game you’ve accepted an agreement.
This agreement includes that you should follow the Code of Conduct, which you can find here: Blizzard Support - Blizzard's In-Game Code of Conduct
Communication
When participating in communication of any kind (chat, voice communication, group finder), you are responsible for how you express yourself. You may not use language that could be offensive or vulgar to others.
Hate speech and discriminatory language is inappropriate, as is any obscene or disruptive language. Threatening or harassing another player is always unacceptable, regardless of language used. Violating any of these expectations will result in account restrictions. More serious and repeated violations will result in greater restrictions.
Breaking the Code of Conduct can result in punishment if CS deems applicable.
So do be careful with your behaviour.
Because if it doesn’t offend you, it doesn’t mean it won’t offend others.
this is why blizzard is doomed to failure… Competative games/sports are not “family friendly”… this ain’t disney hour…
FPS games specifically are full of adults who want to blow of steam… no matter how woke blizzard gets, you’re not going to change this space
all they will do, is kill their game, which is well underway
That’s your idea.
The game itself might not be family-friendly, but the social features should be.
I mean, it’s common standard to just be nice to people.
If you can’t be then simply be silent.
“Hi, hello there let me shake your hand and compliment your shoes while I shoot you in the head”…
Yeah no… it’s not my idea… it is how the world has worked since humans started competing against each other… like it or not
By all means be good sportsmen… but competition is always aggressive otherwise it ceases to be competition
And no matter how much SJW clap trap you or blizzard subscribe to you’re not going to change the gamer space you’re just going to ruin yourselves
Get woke, go broke my dudes
Let me just flip that one real quick: Calling someone a “noob” is childish and there’s no reason for you to do it. If you can’t handle the fact that the people who are ranked the same as you are bad (i.e. that YOU are bad), go off the internet. If you’re so easily triggered that you have to insult others in a childish fashion, you raelly shouldn’t play video games.
Being silent is also considered gameplay sabotage because “you ignore teammates/not participating in the team effort” and it can get you banned.
Do you want me to post the screenshot in which this thing was said to me by the support staff?
I think it’s you who needs to get off the internet and stop playing video games. You seem to be awfully triggered by what some “child”, as you called the guy, says. Never seen anyone getting triggered by what kids say except snowflakes who find everything offensive.
Sure.
Are you seriously this thick? Read the opening post - the dude is whining about being reported. I’m just sitting here laughing at him. And now at you as well.^^
All this just sums up to “don’t talk at all in case someone might get offended”
I’m not defending name calling anyone, it’s destructive to the team and never yields any positive results.
However you can’t deny that what you just said is very subjective. Someone can be offended if I ask for healing more than once, or for saying anything really. Blizzards coc is very vague and that has been an issue for a long time, basically allowing abuse of the report feature, exactly because of this:
A little bit of context first: I was baiting the guy to believe that I was a new player and a unique snowflake who got hooked into the game because of how awesome Mercy is, when in reality this is just my 1 trick Mercy account.
I just played with team voice chat on autojoin but I had it on 0 volume and had unbound my PTT key, thus eliminating the chance of me snapping at some special needs kid which would lead to an abusive chat ban. Also, I always played with deactivated chat.
It didn’t matter anyway because within 3 weeks of playing I got both orange window warnings for abusive chat AND gameplay sabotage before getting suspended for gameplay sabotage.

I blacked out the GM’s name for obvious reasons.
Well I stand corrected, apparently staying silent is offensive too
yep, pretty much the response i got aswell… in fact they said and i quote “Not communicating in a team based game is considered abusive chat”
don’t have the screenshot… but it happened believe it or not
this is when i was mass false reported for “abusive chat” because i was playing bastion
This game is a circus, just do whatever you want until you get bored and move on or you get permabanned.
Ever since I started implementing this way of playing (on this game only of course, other games are actually still played by sane people), my enjoyment has gone way up.
It’s ridiculous on multiple levels. For one the GM said “your team feels you’re not beneficial”. So just based on them feeling you’re not being beneficial, regardless of your effort. Not to mention Blizzard stated that one tricking is fine and not an offense.
Then they said “it’s about team cohesion and working towards a goal” but they themselves implemented limitations such as 222 and hero bans to force you out of making those decisions and made them for you.
Yeah circus sums it up very nicely
Ahahah, it’s actually funny that you mention that because in that same convo I was given the answer to this question.
Here’s the evidence:

So basically, it’s “don’t play ranked if you’re trash or a bad 1 trick”.
Ok so Blizzards next step should be to limit competitive to 6 stacks only, for ultimate team cohesion. If you’re not in a 6 stack, you just can’t queue.
Basically them saying one tricking is fine was a publicity stunt to unban a certain tobjorn main because of who blizzard got a bit of backlash after banning them, if you’re not a known streamer without fan support, too bad.
also the mods are gonna get triggered from you “Outing” their insane double standards and mentally defective ToS interpretation btw
100% on your side. Most people are just too childish to accept that they are noob. They are doomed to repeat.
I remember that you started a new topic and you flamed everyone who wasn’t agreeing with you. You said they were trolling and how you were going to report them. That’s what I call childish.
The title of the topic is: OVERWATCH, CURRENTLY, IS UNPLAYABLE
