Losing connection to game server randomly

Hello,

After playing Overwatch for over a year with no problems whatsoever, I’ve been having random disconnections in the past month or so. The game runs smoothly mostly, with stable latency and framerate, and then suddenly I get a large latency spike (going from 90ms to 300, but sometimes to 150) and after a few seconds get disconnected from the game. The message I receive is “Lost connection to game server”. This happens very often, almost once each match, but also very randomly. Some matches are fine, in others I get 3 or 4 of these.

I ran all the steps in the connection troubleshooting. Reset my router and pc, flushed my ip address and dns, updated all my drivers, opened all the necessary ports, tried the scan and repair tool, closed all background applications. I’m not using a wireless network, a proxy or a vpn. When I go to Documents\Overwatch folder, there’s no new log file.

Not sure why there’s not ping. I compared it with a friend of mine who has no connection problems and he has no ping as well. I don’t know what that means.

Any ideas?

Same issues here, just randomly disconnected twice from QP in northern east coast, 15-20 minutes since I started the game

Hello Sussano,

There is a visible ms increase in last steps of your tests but nothing that could clearly justify constant disconnections, like the ones you described. Were these tests done immediately after a disconnection? could you please run a traceroute and a pathping as well? Please make sure both tests are done immediately after a disconnection.

Dexter19, as you are playing in US region, I recommend you follow this forum instead. This said though, give these troubleshooting steps a go, they might help you to rule out the cause of the disconnections you are experiencing. :slight_smile:

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I also get dced from Voice Chat when this happens.

This is now happening all over the place. 2-3 players in each of my last 4 (attempted) games.

I actually got suspended after the server disconnected me. No network connection issues on my end. Probably lost SR over this issue.

Same happening here. No change in ms, but randomly in the last 5 games I return to lobby with “game found” and nothing happens. Changed pw, restarted everything, but still the same issue.

My Issue is that after a min ingame or during serching for game I get tossed out of the game to loading page in the begging. The Looking for server page but it cant find server. I have restarted the game and looked over my internet but everything is fine on my side… Is there any issues with the connection to servers today?

Same happened to me, got sent to main menu several times and i got the error " Failed to connect to server " each time i tried to rejoin competitive game. My internet is working just fine. What is going on ?!?!!

Edit : Also I get disconnected from battlenet.

Same thing just happened to be, was about to create a support ticket before seing this post.
What’s going on and is it possible somehow to cancel the last ranked lost for me and my team if I have proof?

I got at least 16 leavers during today and i cant really get why it doesnt kick me, but i lost about 150 sr to this too. People are getting toxic and throw reports left and right because of this. And they are tilted and lose games that they are should not.
The point is stop with this double experience thing if you can’t provide a possibility to at least 1|3 players to log in at once. And I am talking bout only EU players atm. Better give 2 more days than double exp at least it wont crash the server. Now Blizzard will lose revenue to this bad decision and who’s fault will that be?

I got the same issue as well. Already lost 150 sr in 2 days

cant play the game got 6 matches minus 75 procent xp and now exp weekend. gonna have to switch to cs go until you fix everything

I am getting random disconnects aswell this evening. Kindly escalate this issue immediately.

Same here. Got disconnected 3 times from competitive deathmatch, then suspended for 9 minutes. It can’t be client issue. Please check your servers!

I have been disconnected for 3 times in a row right in a second a match start. So embarassing.

i have been having the same issue too. it just happened 15 seconds before the end of a match :confused:
