Hello.
I made a new account on which I tried to learn projectiles more, mainly hanzo and torb. Widow/hanzo/torb are my top3 played, yet often when i take torb i have to defend myself for the choice.
( overbuff dot com/players/pc/FLMK-2112 )
After 3x of the “report torb from start games” the new lv35 account just now recieved its first ban.
- i never spoke in mic, and never used bad word in text chat
- torb 50%, hanzo 60% and widow 70% winrate … I only take widow out if a farah is countering my torb
- I never stand still more than 10s to avoid “false afk alarms” since plat poeple dont even know when to group
- I never argue over someones hero choice, i just give advice which could help, like “zen for anti grav”
- Im still surprised with how much im able to get away with, getting 2-3 kills on a flank, but if the main squad is demoralized and with bad choices themselves it can happen that they still lose.
Im around 3000sr and this alt acc placed similiar 2800sr, so Im not sandbagging.
I will now write ticket and get a bot reply telling me to read their policy.

so you made another account to smurf and practice with , wrecking other peoples games if you are a high level player , if this is the case and i say if , im sort of glad you got banned because smurfing wrecks genuine players matches making it no fun to play .

Smurfs should be banned in any case as their point is inherently to ruin matches one way or another.
Should you be banned for smurfing in order to play certain characters only - yes as you are griefing others by playing intentionally badly.
Should you be banned if you play Torbjörn because youre particularly good at playing Torbjörn? No, because youre playing him because you want to win.

What makes you think there aren’t ways of getting a low rank without griefing other players ?
- What if the account was newly purchased at retail price ?
- What if the guy threw all the games in a 6 stack, with other people that want to derank, thereby not causing grief to anyone outside ?
I wrote a post and found out the primary reasons, why people Smurf in the first place. Take a look at it.
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/question-why-has-there-been-an-increase-in-smurfs-recently/2640
Getting to a low rank has the purpose of ruining matches by roflstomping back up or trolling around in low-rank matches. I dont care if it’s a 6 stack or not in that case. People going to ranks where they dont belong is a red flag by default.
Time of purchase has no meaning as OP clearly stated that he’s smurfing.
People can do whatever they want on their main account, but creating a new account because “I dont want to ruin my main account with what I’m going to do next” is a clear red flag as well.
This is also why I support freedom of picks for the main-accounts, but smurfs only promote malicious intentions as people like OP here try to remove all accountability.

That’s not completely true. People might want to start off with a new account to learn a new hero. They can’t learn a hero in a team enviornment during a high level competitive play because that would disrupt the game and raise toxicity / reports in the game.
When a mercy main decides to play Genji in a GM game, the first thing people would start asking on voice, is if your throwing ? You ruin the game for the other players in your team when your not playing the game at GM levels, and that raises toxicity in the game. Who likes toxicity ? So the sane way to do it is get a new account and start practicing the hero you like from a low level, and then you can progress at your own pace. Why is that considered wrong ?

Now that’s the point where one should start adressing the issues of Quick Play and how Competitive is literally the only gamemode where people try to actually win matches - leaving people without the ability to try different heroes in a serious environment.
Again, I’m not against freedom of picks. This is actually why I strongly encourage Blizzard to stop their double standards on that matter immediately - in order to reduce toxicity and actual bans in that scenario.
Still deranking on purpose leaves matches to be griefed by these people. One day theyre going to play Genji and Tracer, heroes which theyre not good at but want to try and the next match theyre going to decide it would be fun to pick their main for a few rounds.
3k SR is incredibly unfun to play at, because of exactly this issue. Every other match there’s a Top500 Tracer on the enemy team who had his smurf decay back to 3k and decided it would be fun to slaughter some noobs for a bit.
I see where youre coming from, dont worry, but it’s difficult, because the problems that originate from smurfs and deranking are very obvious and harsh.
Yet another valid reason one of the other users mentioned in my previous post, was because high level ranked games are high pressure games. Sometimes people just want to relax and play the game, but QP is just unorganized so you don’t get proper games.
The only other way to get relaxed competitive games are by playing at lower ranks.

Lower skill players have the exact same right to a competitive match as much as everyone in the Top500.
A bronze player who is tryharding (within his capabilities) just like everyone in the Top500 does not deserve smurf-accounts trolling around by treating his SR range as “their” very own version of Quick-play where they can do whatever they want without any repercussions to their main-account (actual SR).

if you make account just to play Torb or Sym or any other idiot character I really want worse things to happen to you than just get banned from the game

I don’t think he is smurfing guys. He is placed roughly 200/300 SR below his main account on this one - probably because torb is a hard hero to use in all situations. I agree that Smurfs are annoying and should probably face some sort of punishment such as a ban, but people who just want to play a hero to have fun shouldn’t be punished by doing what they enjoy
I won’t talk about smurfing because that would derail the main issue.
Have you communicated with your team, tried to explain your plans and found a solution to the “switch off Torbjörn” problem?
Your team might have thought you were trolling/sabotaging the game because you “1-tricked” Torb.
Your performance doesn’t justify your actions well enough. If you don’t talk to your team, then you could consider it bad team play.
However, I don’t know how exactly you talked to your teammates so I can’t judge the ban just yet.

this 100% yes totaly agree!! i am a bronze player , i fully admit i am not a good player but i can hold my own in bronze/silver matches and enjoy playing against other genuine bronze/silver players in these matches , but when you get completely stomped and you know it is either – a - a smurf
b - a higher level player that deliberately dropped to play in lower and troll that is clearly cheating and spoiling other players who also paid for the game’s fun . low level players have the same rights as any other high level player , – to play , enjoy compete at their rank and have fun , this is not happening now at all in over watch .
blizzard have let the standards and their morale code slip drasticaly .

he bloody admitted he is a deliberate smurf , using this to practice so as not to hurt his precious high level standing .
The truth is. blizzard don’t care about you. unless you are a famous player. else they will sh*t on you.

Remind them one tricking or playing Torbjorn is’t against policy.
I didn’t know it was possible to be this ignorant. Then again, you’re in the bottom 5%.
I’m suprised about how many people are blantantly ignoring the main point.

Talk about being jealous.
Wow man you really don’t get it.
Why the matchmaking then? Would be enough for top500 only… +They can play against anyone they feel like so it doesn’t get stressing. Right?
While I’m not against multiple accounts I’m against playing on 4.5k and 2k at the same time… It’s simply not fair.
