As the title says. Just for the love of God please stop reporting everyone for anything they say in chat.
Also people should not be reported for saying weird stuff in chat if it’s not rude or abusive to others.
Last time i made a thread like this my account got suspended from forums for 30 days because of all the reports it got.
Note that if users find your content offending they do have the right to report it.
Action is taken depending on how many reports have been recieved too, so it means it’s not just a single troll.
Make sure your post is not violating any rules.

Just try it, maybe you will enjoy the game after it. In the case you are still worried - im a widowmain in silver (you should know what is it means), and after half of year playing mostly widow i can say that i never had a warning about reports.
yeah i actually got a suspension from being false reported for abusive chat despite never using the chat because i turn it off like you suggest…
the customer service team told me “Not communicating in a team based game can be considered abusive chat”…
so you can’t win no matter what you do, eventually everyone will be banned
Stop tbagging enemies… man i dont know what is happening in your games, but reports problem is not so common
i don’t do it personally, but the report problem is extremely common, snowflakes will litterally report you for anything and everything, including doing exactly what they say
Yes, that’s the thing.
You can’t classify offensive things only as objective, there are plenty of things that can be personally offensive.
It’s fine to report for this reason, do note that you require a clear explanation with your report otherwise the chance is smaller of the verdict passing with Customer Support.
If you find my post offensive, then could you explain what you find exactly offending towards you?
Also again for OP, the reporting system is not automated and CS make sure punishment is delivered appropriately.
Depending on the severity of the situation or the amount of reports recieved action will be taken, these can be applied with an ticket.
As far i’m aware only the Overwatch Devs take feedback from here, not sure if the Customer Support departement takes feedback here as it’s a general Blizzard thing rather than OW specific.
The reporting system is automated
Sadly the reporting system being automated means it will fail more than it succeeds.
This is the consequence of all the job cuts, despite record profits.
They ban the wrong people occasionally and take WAAAY too long to deal with things that are genuine issues.
If they turned match chat off, and just left it to team and group. You would take a good chunk of the nonsense out of the game. Leaving them a little more time to deal with things.
Also, anyone reporting someone for not being in voice should be immediately banned. That is literally the most pathetic reason for reporting someone, and Blizzard enabling that kind of behaviour is embarrassing.
I’m going by Blizzard’s word that everything is manually checked.

They only manually review cheating reports. Everything else is automated on volume, unless you can give them enough grief to check on appeal (which you will never win, because they are stubborn and don’t overturn them)
I’ve had forum suspensions overturned and alot of good chats with CS.
Can’t say everyone’s experience is the same.
Of course you can live with your own belief that it’s automated, that’s fine.
Though i’ll keep believing that it’s manually reviewed, since i only use the information they give.
I know it is automated as I have had someone there explain the basics of the system to me. and that the team that checks this does not have to staff to manually check even 5% of the report they receive.
They are under staffed and under paid.
Employees cannot share any information about the reporting system, i can’t trust you got an official answer on the system.

Just think about how many reports they get a day… from all over the world… then tell me if it even makes sense to check them all…
