Reporting And Punishment System Article?

Overwatch support doesnt have an article about “reporting and punishment system” and i would like to be informed how these punishment apply, why these are getting applied and what are the punishments or actions taken depending on the actions user made. For example why someone gets 3 - 4week account suspension while they are just abusive chat in competive mode.

And to be honest from now on i’ll be reporting literally everyone i match with because there are no downside of reporting. You ask for them to switch bam you get reported, they ask you to switch you say “no” bam you get reported, you perform badly in the game bam you get reported. Some people might think its stupid but like i said there are not enough information about reporting and punishments. You should be abusing this broken reporting system by literally reporting everyone you dissagree with untill there will be a proper fix.

No salt or hate but its really easy, everyone these days get banned for abusive chat. hackers takes months before they are banned.

its by number of reports no mater if the reports are 100% legit or 100 not legit.

it starts with a silence, then 1 week/2 week/1 month/ perma ban

one of my healing smurf got silenced, and i am not kidding i have been overly help full to my team giving them advice and what they did wrong ( positioning and hero picks ) this is where most reported me, i bet if they could take back there reports after the game they would. i noticed in the beginning they felt intimidated by my confidence, i come from a military family and been there my self ( wasn’t my calling though) so i am way more direct to people.

since people tend to report to fast how about a system that allows the same player to anonymously take it back so no future action will be taken on his/her behalf.

The report system works fully automatic, you will get punished when you got a certain number of reports.

However, you can ask a GM to look at your case and possibly lift the ban. They then check whether those reports were legit by checking the EULA and Code of Conduct

But there is something important you should know regarding reports for chat abuse:

You may not use language that could be offensive or vulgar to others.

That little “could” is devastating because it makes literary anything reportable for chat abuse. This is why you only get your punishment lifted if you are really clean. This means you never swore, never insulted someone and never talked in a negative way, which is difficult to maintain.

Anyway, as a heads-up, there is already a gigantic thread about the report system so don’t be surprised when this thread gets split and closed.

It was like that before, i got silenced for a week like 1.5 years ago and a month or two ago i’ve been instantly got 3 week suspension ban. I asked about it got no clear answer. And now again i got 3 week ban. I’m not arguing that i dont deserve any action but this, i told customer support this before, but i feel like this is literally overkill. And its happening in just two days. Anyway im not salty about it but still it feels wrong time to time.
