i dont see the problem , they will just derank to lower rank
and how about the way they ban cheaters ? same argument can be used there too

Well the ip bann isnt really that hard to bypass like all it takes is a youtube video.
changing ip wont do much ,because it’s still give away your location
from what i understand ,blizzard bans your location ,because this is what ip is
Not so sure on that.
But you can always use a proxy its not easy but not hard.
Not sure how they ip ban since i have yet to take one.
Account bans seems to be their normal way ot punishing players not to sure about cheaters thou.
But i will add that Smurfing is not an offence nor is it bannable.
But if the people think that it’s gameplay sabotage they are free to report for it and if enought of them report the guy will get punished.
Funny. Wondering if you really know they are smurfs or if they are just plain better than you. Sometimes I try myself at heroes I am not as good with in ranked, because in my opinion you can only REALLY train those heroes in ranked, cause QP is a chaotic mess. This will almost certainly result in me losing SR overtime. Now when I feel like playing the heroes I am better with in ranked while my SR is lowered am I a filthy smurf? That’d be stupid as heck.
Also smurfs would just rank up sooner or later. Maybe they will derank again but you might as well get lucky every now and then and have a smurf in the enemy team who plans to lower his SR. I got quite a bit of playtime and it really never bothered me. And they are completely irrelevant in QP since OW will evaluated your “true skill” quite quickly and match your newbie account with the ones closer to your actual skill level. Tried it myself. First few matches with a fresh account was me totally annihilating other actual newbies in QP, to the point I felt bad, but then later that day my level 10-something account was matched with the same type of players I would get with my main account.
To clarify I especially bought overwatch a second time to use that account for heroes I am still practicing in ranked, while I use my main account for heroes I am already proficient with in ranked.
Imo it’s a big non-issue and excuse for frustrated people who are losing to call other players smurfs/cheaters. I have various friends who are playing overwatch and the only ones of those who accuse strangers of being smurfs or cheaters are those who get angry really quickly.
And also there really is absolutely no way to stop people from smurfing. There are plenty ways to get around IP bans when you simply have a dynamic IP or you use a proxy which you can set up in a minute.
Most don’t fall for that excuse, chaotic or not heroes are well enough trained in QP to know mechanics. And even then unless you go to the pro scene who cares about SR, such life priorities…
And the worse smurfs are those “friends” who boost them.
The irony is when I try to send a web ticket it says : To resolve this issue, we require verification that you are the primary account holder. Attach a picture of your government-issued photo ID.
Can they be any more hypocrite? They do not do anything against smurf issue but when we try to send a ticket, they want ID?
I don’t send my id to a bad administrated company. Who knows where it will end up?
You can, say, practice your soldier in QP. You can practice your positioning, your aim, etc. What you can’t properly practice in chaotic QP are heroes that require some amount of teamplay. Let’s take Wrecking Ball as the latest example. You can practice your swings and the like even in custom matches by yourself but proper diving when your team doesn’t follow and does what the f*** ever? No sir. To really practice for the ranked environment you go to ranked. Basics can be learned in QP but to get refined you need to get the hell out of there.
I don’t even get how that is an excuse? If I especially spent money just to seriously practice my non-main heroes in ranked it’s my own business. No damage done.
Game sense is learned by just playing the game so again excuses. It does not need rocket science to know you need to dive with WB with atleast some help (D.va with you and ana healing from afar just to call 1 team play). And if your not going into the pro league then you even have less reasons.
Sorry man I really don’t get what your problem is. Excuses for what? If I want to spend money to practice in the optimal environment that’s my business. With both accounts I am playing at the correct SR. Primary account with higher SR and my more experienced heroes, secondary with less SR and my less experienced heroes… where is the problem? I don’t really have to plan to go pro to want to improve myself, cause I think it’s fun.
Good then why so much effort for something you can have the same “fun” on your main ? I call this delusional thinking that you need the comp environment to be able to learn. Cause if you have a full premade who cares that you are learning ? Why care about your SR on your main when you are not going pro ? Cause you wont learn in solo que that is for sure.
I really got no clue what’s going on with you and why you care so much with what I like and don’t like and wether I should care about my SR or not? Why even have competitive mode by your reasoning if 99,99% of players will never go pro and shouldn’t care about SR? What in gods name is wrong with you that you would criticize how I enjoy the game when I don’t harm anyone? I enjoy getting better and I’d like to see how far I can get or how stable I can stay at my level SR-wise with various heroes, without “going pro”. And even when I queue in solo I get a lot more stable games ON AVERAGE (sure there are messy ones sometimes) than in QP.
I won’t reply to any further posts of yours because quite frankly you are being incredibly silly, feeling the need to tell a stranger how they should or shouldn’t enjoy the game.
100% right (I am coming from csgo, people there also cry about smurf, instead of training)
Cause everything can be done on a main account. People generally don’t like liars or people who are delusional. For the rest I don’t care what you find fun in a game, just the dishonest and delusional thinking that you need another account to learn another hero.
I don’t really think there’s much they can do about smurfs really. I totally agree with you though, i really think it’s annoying and something needs to be done by it.
Maybe they should add a “smurf” ban to the list in low ranks? Maybe it’s not easy to detect but it’s at least something imo.
A lot of people forget that smurfing isn’t bannable. And there is a large amount of people that agree with that on top of it making extra funds for the game to continue its lifespan.
Jeff himself openly said that he self both the game 6 time on top of the accounts he gets as a dev.
“SMURFS… WHAT IS BLIZZARD DOING ABOUT IT?”
I dont really think its a wise investment into stopping something that might cut a good %age of the games funds. Not only will they make less money but they have to invest man power into it.
And i have yet to see someone thinking of a way to stop smurfing without harming people with multiple family members that play the same game or without having a easy way to be bypassed.
Furthermore getting prove for someone smurfing is hard and people will abuse it like they abuse the automated report system then for sure good players will get punish’d. This salty community doesn’t need any tools it can abuse to punish good players even if they really believe that they are smurfs.
All just add that every mager good content creator plays on smurfs to get better clips to edit. That lead’s to better promo videos and more sales as well.
Alright you baited me into another response even though I suspect that you are just trolling because your reading comprehension and your reasoning is just so inhumanly bad, you can’t be for real. I never said I NEED another account to learn another hero. What the hell? I said I enjoy having seperate accounts because I like to see how far I can get with my primary heroes and how far I can get with my secondary heroes while practicing with them in a semi-serious environment. Insulting me, calling me delusional and a liar over that makes no sense. What lies do I tell? Why am I delusional? Would I be a delusional liar if I bought overwatch 28 times if I can spare the money, just to see what SR I can reach and hold with each hero? Crap, I could theoretically even have an account strictly for solo queues and another strictly for premade queues just because I like looking and comparing statistics. Would that make me a dirty filthy liar?
First off smurfs = scum. I have no sympathy for people who buy new accounts to play competitive.
Next, for this game to be taken seriously smurfing in lower ranks needs to be a reportable offense. They are hurting the enemy side as much as a thrower hurts their own side. As long as smurfing is somehow more “noble” than throwing there is nothing they’ll ever do about it.
Deranking on a smurf is bad, Bannable and its Gameplay sabotage. Buying a new account or being better than the rank that you are placed in isn’t.
What if a top 500 player start’s playing rank later on or at the last week of the season? He clearly won’t be instantly placed at his rank and he will look like a smurf to most of his opponents. And they are players who miss a season or two. Good luck finding real prove that the other guy is a smurf, and even if he is one as long as his not premade boosting or losing games on purpose to keep a low rank than its A ok.
