Typical situation like the sheeps who instantly lock in with WM, Hanzo or Genji and (thanks activision) the new mid range and yet another “sniper” based hero Ashe. The rest are just random DPS heroes. I join in the “fun” as well to pick Mei,Junkrat,Sym,torb or whatever. And then the enemy team always seems to go more “try hard” with atleast 2 supports and 1 tank.
So in the end i swap cause trying something different then healing is not fun for me when it is a total stomp with no progression. So my question to mainly any support/tank players. Do you feel you are always put in a team who does not want to play any support or tank and yet the enemy team always does ? I feel like the system is looking at my stats or something and see’s i play quite a lot of support heroes and just dumps me into offense only players.
For me the only solution to this is just to play mystery heroes but RNG there can sting hard.
Yeah, sounds familiar. Sometimes i’ll go toxic but most of the times i just leave.
Prefer getting leaver penalties over wasting my time with “Can i haz Gengu”.
Leave and find a new lobby. 1 in 4 will give you a decent team.
Just look at the endorsement levels.
When your team has higher endorsement players, you give it a go.
When you are in the low level endorsement team, you gtfo.
As a tank main, let me tell you first and foremost that your assessment here is wrong. There is no black magic algorithm that’s checking out your hours in QP on heroes, then throwing you in with a bunch of players who play more DPS heroes in QP. I’ve never heard of such a thing existing.
the simple truth is that more players play DPS heroes, they outnumber us tanks and supports by a mile. That’s all there is to it. No under table trickery placing you with them.
Secondly, I have no issues with QP. So what if people always pick WM, Genji, etc? That’s what QP is for, a place to practice and play heroes that you want to improve with.
If it’s comp, sure, I can understand feeling frustrated seeing 4 dps on the team, or two snipers. But in QP? C’mon my dude. It’s a practice mode for people to enjoy and chill in and play any hero they want. That’s what I love about QP.
I’ll be honest though. There was a time when I avoided comp and all I played was QP, and I too would get frustrated at people a lot. Because it was mostly all I played, I used to have certain expecations of QP, and would get annoyed if people didn’t take it seriously or try to win.
Today I only play QP to have fun and work on personal challenges, like getting better at Mei, or improving my aim with Ashe/Widow, whatever. It’s a place with no rules and I love that about it.
Yep, all the trolls were on your side, unfortunately …
These days are the worst, because there will be a lot of role-players, playing solely for new skins …
That’s like trying to get better at basketball by shooting free throws… Also, how can anyone play tank if there’s no healer? You’ll just get overrun by enemy tanks… Sure, Widow is having fun of her lifetime shooting from spawn not giving a flying about game, you or anything… That’s why people always pick snipers, to sit back and shoot. Others, well, either leave or prepare to be a part of operation human shield, the South Park way …
As long they play the objective i am fine, but practice is also know when to swap. Personally i feel like DM is the best place to practice. But granted because of dumb reasons Activision does not allow every game mode to be on at the arcade.
Anyway what do you learn when you get 0 kills and just get stomped over and over again when you can’t even capture 1/3 of the point. How is it fun to shoot shields or having died 20 times with maybe 2-3 kills ? Did i miss something that it is fun for being helpless ?
My experience has been the opposite to this. Usually I go in to QP to have fun as DPS, try out new things, like play Mei, Hanzo, Genji, etc. Anything I can have fun with and relax. But in comp, it’s very rare I get to DPS or heal, usually those two are always covered and I have to always tank, which I love so it’s cool.
More like being helpless where you can barely step out the gate or barely touch the point with your team being instantly deleted. Although i play to win I don’t expect to win every game. But I don’t find total stomps fun and especially when im useless with the hero i decide to play.
Like today on the map junker town the typical wm,genji etc and we could not pass the small bridge. Until finally when i asked nicely we need to swap if we want to do anything and 1-2 did and we almost made it. But we did not cause there was no time left.
You’re thinking about all of this negatively. I can see it in the way you write about your experience.
instead you should be thinking, today I had a tough time passing x choke on this map, but I figured out that if I do x y and z, it helps up get past that point, and if we switch this hero for that hero, that helps too! Now I am better and more prepared for that exact choke point next time.
This is the mentality you need when you play QP. To learn and to improve YOUR personal gameplay without worrying and being overly negative about everything that goes wrong in the game.
Focus on improving your own play and game sense, and stop worrying about what others are doing and about winning or losing.
The day I stopped worrying about all the things that aren’t going right in QP, and I started worrying more about what I was doing and how I was performing (accuracy stats, being in the right place, ult combos, etc) then I knew I was improving and that gave me satisfaction.
Keep focusing on others and all the things that are going wrong and QP will forever be a headache inducing mode.
Improve? Stats(solo play) can only get you to diamond these days. So, yes, you might get to diamond after 200 hours of trolling one hero in QP. But what then?
Better to leave 10 troll games to play one interesting game, then waste your time with trolls …
Mate, as kids today would say … you’re tripping. Or you’re playing some other QP where people don’t play Widow, Mcree, Ashe, Sombra, Soldier/Genji/Tracer/etc. comps only.
Your attitude is really negative and I doubt there is much you can do to enjoy QP. I’m only offering you advice. If it doesn’t work for you, by all means carry on the way you are
I do by swapping to a healer or even tank every time if i see i don’t do the damage needed for a long time. But if the team want’s to constantly charge in 1v6 then their is nothing for them or me to learn cause they miss out the biggest thing that makes you win games in comp, team work.
I can try as much as i want to improve myself, but that does so much. Again i don’t see the fun where someone thinks “i am genji me so skillfull” and then charges in alone dying in a split second, and again and again…
Can’t team up so all i can do is charge in like a headless chicken and die. Try to flank or bring my magic with ice walls and such just to die cause no team work.
lol expecting a Genji to actually wait for the rest of the team in QP?
I feel like you don’t get it yet friend. You’re wasting so much energy over things we have no control over. Why?
Instead, why not focus on things you CAN control? Like aim practice, positioning practice, tracking, ult usage, building ults fast, comboing ults.
There is literally an ocean of things you COULD work on and occupy yourself with in QP that you’re ignoring, and you’re just worrying about one factor (team work) and thinking that without that, there is nothing to do.
If I go in to QP expecting team work or expecting the Genji to actually wait for everyone, I would rip my hair out every time.
Don’t believe the myths from people who say “there is nothing to learn in QP because it’s a mess”. That’s lazy thinking and completely untrue.
So, how do you know I don’t enjoy QP? Did I write that somewhere? No?
Only that QP is for trolling … and everybody trolls. It’s like solo-Rust, only you can’t call other players f-words …
