Some good competition for Overwatch maybe?
Could it be better?
Gunplay/interactions/physics look clunky compared to Overwatch though?
If they release it on Mac then I might even be tempted to switch!

Wasn’t it in alpha testing?
Plenty of time to make it better before it’s release deadline next year.
I might give it a try when it releases, but until then i’m trying not to hype myself too much. It could end up working for me, or i might not like it.
Can’t tell until i try it myself eventually.
Wasnt there supposed to be a MHA fps. That got overhyped and ended up being a flop. I think itll Marvel rivals (im assuimging its a marvel superhero fps?) will likely get some players. But the demand really isnt there I dont think, theres plenty of marvel games and lets be honest. If you want to play as a marvel superhero with a gun. Theres this small indie game called fortnite, Which has a few collabs. Not sure if youve heard of it as its a very small game
It was.
It didn’t look great. It showed off that 6v6, visually, isn’t very good.
It will be interesting to see how aggressive the monetisation is going to be… NetEase aren’t known for being generous.
I plan to give it a go when it launches, but my prediction is that it will burn bright initially (Marvel + hype), but fade fast when people realise it is just a cheaply made, vapid cash grab (like all NetEase games).
We’ll see what happens.
And i hope they take a little while to gather fans before they start paywalling new op heroes and make the game a true pay to win experience, or come up with some other ways to make people pay for stuff.
Or maybe the impossible will happen and the monetisation remains relatively fair despite the shop being aggressively advertised with popups between matches.
Based on the leaks, most of the heroes will be purchasable, so it will be P2W straight from the start.
Now if that “pay” is really cheap, it won’t matter. But it is NetEase… it won’t be cheap lol
I tried out Marvel rivals…
It’s way better than I’d expected!
Game has massive potential but they just need to sort out the optimisation and it could be a big hit!
Anything with NetEase attached to it is super monetized and predatory. I give you Diablo Immortal where people have spent $100,000 to max a single character. NetEase…no thank you.
At least they’ve said heroes will be free. But their idea of “free” is usually a little different.
But it makes me wonder, how aggressive the monetisation will be elsewhere in the game.
Played the beta, it has the same feeling of playing Overwatch in 2016. Fun, refreshing, interesting. It’s a good thing for Overwatch since it may force Blizzard to actually make Overwatch better having an actual threat. Seen plenty of people say that they are waiting for its release to quit Overwatch as well.
I think OW will be fine either way. Probably see an initial drop in players, but it’ll settle and stabilise pretty quickly.
People thought that Concord would “kill overwatch” too… But it just released and has initially flopped hard.
I mean it’s just a repeat of TF2 Vs Overwatch in 2016.
Yeah. It is almost like there is plenty of time in peoples life to just play and enjoy both games.
Game looks fantastic nice resurgence for the hero genre more competition better…
If it’s unrigged I’m swapping…
Fair. OW isn’t rigged either, but if you need to rationalise it win yourself to do it, then fine.
We’ll see you back in OW sooner than you think.
in a closed beta, there were already people cheating …so…if they are not going to have an anti cheat, which is like a kernel one, nothing is going to change. Cheater game.
The reason it looks clunky compared to OW is because OW is 1st person, Rivals is 3rd person.
It looks good and i like the game play i’ve watched so far, but only time will tell whether it’s a hit or a miss.
Third person mode is one of the aspects I love about it and it will be cool being able to see the skins I equip as well heh…
I wish Overwatch had a 3rd person mode in the arcade or something…
Agreed. It is probably why they came out with that large comms post regarding potential changes/6v6.
They may sense the real threat now, and that they’ll need to start listening to the playerbase. Take a look at the Steam and Metacritic reviews to see peoples opinion.
The meta critics for OW2 is still sitting at 1.6 user reviews. Which puts a smile to my face, because it proves me and many others right, in that the management team ain’t doing their job.
But who knows. Maybe their job description is to cater to the content creators and ignore the majority of the player base completely. At least they’re doing a wonderful job there.
I’m afraid 6v6 will come far too late for it to salvage this game (6v6 was supposed to be out for us to test in s14 or 15?? That’s way too late) or have any sort of impact, as Rivals and other games will be released by the time we get 6v6 here, which will draw even more people away from this game.
