That was audible on the stream.
The only person saying “all gamers” in this thread is you.

I also find it unbelievable to have something like “hero shooter fatigue”.
How can usual shooters rule for decades when the only thing you do is choosing between rifles or snipers, and hero shooters being ‘fatigued’ when you can choose between hitscans (rifles/snipers), projectiles, beams, melees…
And worst, if the genre is dead, how could Rivals succeed? Don’t come with ‘Marvel IP’ because I bough all marvel games and got annoyed in all. Rivals is the only Marvel game where I have more than 15 hours, and that in 3 days.
Not to mention Valorant doing perfectly well…
Same for me…
Fact is most players probably don’t even care much about Marvel this is the first Marvel game I’ve played and stuck with because it’s actually a good game…
Players don’t stick with the game just because of the brand if it isn’t fun and a good game…
Meanwhile Valorant doing well because it’s actually a good game and it has nothing to do with brand image…
Google it. It is a thing.
Personally, not something I suffer from. But it is there.
There is also FPS fatigue.
Most genres that do well become over saturated, then “fatigue” sets in and people slowly move on to the next thing. Same happens with movies.
But as always. Even with perceived fatigue. If something is great, it will do well either way.
No one said it was dead. But the Marvel IP is something that made Rivals far more attractive to people than something totally new.
Again proving that if something is good, it will do well regardless. Valorant having a similar sized player base to OW.
MR is a very solid game, plus is as that Marvel appeal. So it will do well. Personally I had more fun playing OW the last few days than I had in MR, but that is because the sound design in MR puts me off.
There’s no such thing he just made this up…
Individuals get tired of games/genres on an individual level…
Not gamers as a whole…
A well made and enjoyable game doesn’t produce “en-masse fatigue” regardless of game genre and some people sighing in a crowd literally proves nothing at all…
It’s poor logic all round…
This is something you are well versed in
(rigged, bates, musk, the list goes on).
Ok maybe you’re right: https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2024/05/31/ps5s-concord-hero-shooter-roasted-by-fans-as-an-overwatch-clone/
Seems people got tired of bad hero shooters getting released.
Is not that the genre is bad, they simply are tired of bad games getting released and compare them to often with OW which is seen as a bad game.
If you’re right, I don’t think Rivals is the bigger threath to OW. GTA VI is knocking the doors, then things will get serious.
Overwatch has a very negative overall reputation - much of which has nothing to do with the gameplay itself but controversy regarding broken promises and monetization practices…
It’s not surprising that games similar to it would inherit some of that negativity especially a game as similar as rivals…
Nothing to do with people being tired of hero shooters as a whole…
The moment people got to actually try Marvel Rivals out we all (well most of us) knew it was a great game with huge potential…
Rivals isn’t a threat to OW at all. It’s a good thing.
Be interesting to see what impact GTA6 has. Especially in the console market seeing as that hasn’t grown in 15 or so years. It could be the trigger event for a new console boom, or it could suck the life out of other games for a period of time.
Very true. Noticeable on the old metacritic and Steam reviews. It got hammered, and still is hammered.
Marvels has been received very well.
