[Turkey]High Ping Problem on EU

Hi. Since last 2 weeks or so (Around when Echo was released), my ping to EU servers drastically increased. I used to get around 64-74 ms ping to both ams1 and cdg1 servers, but now, the minimum ping I get is around 88 ms, going up to 120 ms at times. It seems as though my connection is being routed poorly through milano58.mil.seabone. I definitely something is wrong, because I live in Turkey and I get 180 ms ping when connecting to the new Middle East server in Bahrain. I get 180 ms ping when connecting to US servers as well when Turkey is much closer to Bahrain geographically.

Something I noticed is that when I get really high ping (100-120 ms) and I leave the game and rejoin, my ping sometimes drops to 85-90 ms. This is not practical in competitive play though. I’m a top 500 tank player and playing with 100-120 ms is not optimal, especially when playing Reinhardt. It also causes weird movement bugs when booping players as Wrecking Ball.

I’ve run several MTR and looking glass tests and I’ve attached them below. I looked around the forums and I noticed that other players’ pings have risen as well, because their connections were being routed poorly.

When I do the looking glass test, my trace route is different to that of MTR test. On looking glass, I get around 65 ms ping, which is what I used to get, but on MTR and the game, I get much higher ping.

ISP: TurkNet (I know it says Turk Telekom in looking glass, but maybe it is being routed through Turk Telekom’s servers or something?)
I’m using ethernet and I’ve done all the troubleshooting as suggested.

The last one makes absolutely no sense. My connection to Bahrain is being routed from Frankfurt? Why?

I’m not being connected to the new middle east server. You can press shift + ctrl + n in game to see which server you’re connected to and I’ve never played a game on the new server. I just made a custom game just for the sake of testing ping and routing problems.

Dostum bende aynı şekilde acı çekiyorum eskiden 60 70 arasıydı artık sabit 90-100. Avrupada hangi server noktasına bağlanmayı önerirsin yada bunu yapabiliyor musun bilmiyorum. İnternetim normalde çok hızlı wi-fi ile bağlanmama rağmen tr testlerimde 10 ping falan alıyorum.

Which ISP are you using? You can’t choose which server you want to connect to. Unfortunately, ping to servers in Turkey doesn’t tell much. Can you also run a WinMTR and looking glass test as I did?

Sometimes I get around 75 ms on WinMTR, but I get 90+ ms in game (Same IP). Leaving the game and rejoining sometimes reduces the ping by 5-10 ms.

I get same issue from Baltics, i had 40ms ping on ams1 and france servers, but now its 90-100ms and im it engineer so i can trace those in detail i can see the blizzard hosts are the issue here, here is my mtr from ams1 server WinMTR Statistics

+1 What did Blizz change lately and made ping higher than before in Turkey!

I’m not sure, but it’s way worse than it was a week or two ago. I get in games with 100-120 ms ping much more often on both cdg1 and ams1 servers. I get 180+ ms on mes1 server, but I heard that there were problems with those servers anyway.

I’ve contacted Blizzard support but they just told me to try using my mobile data to see if it solves the problem… The thing is, I usually get 90-95 ms and occasionally 110-120 ms. When I get 110-120 ms, disconnecting and reconnecting to the game sometimes gets my ping down to 85-95 ms, but in competitive play, you don’t want to leave the game and you must play the first round before leaving anyway or else you will get -50 SR.

I’ve contacted my ISP (TurkNet) and they said that they tried to contact Blizzard, but they weren’t responding to e-mails. They also said that the problem was on Blizzard’s side and they need to fix the servers. I know it’s easy to blame the other side, but Blizzard hasn’t said anything regarding this issue. I know it’s not exactly a fair comparison, but when I tried Valorant, I used to get 50-55 ms to servers in France, whereas I get 90-120 ms on Overwatch.
