Unfair Account Ban

Hi all,

Recently my main account has been completely banned for good.

Firstly I was banned for a two week period for toxicity which is fair and my account was silenced. Then half way through that two week period I then received another email form blizzard saying that my account will be closed for good due to another review saying I had been using “third party software” in my gameplay. I have no idea what this could even entail, they believe that I have been cheating somehow? I play this game a max of 8-10hrs a week, I don’t even have time to learn to cheat or even play the game that much.

How is this fair? I was never given any evidence of this “third party software”, the support system is terrible and I raised a ticket twice only to be bluntly shut down? Is there any way I can get this issue resolved? Ridiculously frustrating when you have spent money on an account and had the same account since 2016…

Any suggestions or help from anybody will be greatly appreciated.

Contact Blizzard support and appeal with a reasonable answer and i hope you will get your account back.

Unfortunately I have already done so three times and their last response was this - “This penalty has already been upheld. We will not be taking another look at this. Have a good rest of your day and stay safe out there.”

With no proof on the matter…

If you had recently installed any new software (even as innocent as a headset configuration software) it could have messed everything up and accidentally triggered their anti-cheat system.

Sadly all you can do/could have done is provide the support with any new/existing software that was running at the same time as overwatch and ask if any of those could have caused a false flagging (It has happened in the past with some headsets).

So any program could have triggered the ban even if it doesn’t actually affect the gameplay, it’s enough that it accesses the game files (or tries to) while you’re playing.

Hi, sorry that this is not a suggestion but I wanted to share my own story here aswell.
I am in the same boat as you are in right now. I got banned this Tuesday for hacking…
I tried reasoning with the support, stating it would be ridicilous to cheat on an account that I spent over 1000h on, spent real money on and only played quickplay on.
Nope:
“We take such matters very seriously and will not impose such account penalties without a full investigation into the case”, yeah yeah sure.
Next ticket, written in more detail, even explaining one thing that might’ve seen suspicious: “This penalty has already been upheld.”
Great!
Third times the charm:
I stated how to replicate that thing I thought I’ve been banned for, but nope:
“Your Overwatch account has been permanently closed due to a direct breach of the Terms of Use”.

I gotta say. Great customer support Blizzard has going on there. Falsely banning people who actively play their game and did nothing wrong and then stating that this is to “maintain the integrity of the game for the benefit of our community”.

Sorry to break it to you, but I think we will not get our accounts back, sadly…

I too want to share that i am in the same boat.

It was on tuesday 26th. I was in bed and recieved the mail and to my shocked surprise it said:

”Account Action: Account Closure - Overwatch Account
Offense: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”)

Recent activity on this account shows the use of an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a “hack”, which harms the intended player experience.”

I hadnt even played for a couple of days before that.

I have now sent appeals like 10 times and they are threatening me that they will stop answering/reviewing my appeals. But they are keep doing both. I get a few different premade texts they have but they all end up rotating.

I have never used or will not use any software to manipulate the game in such manner that i gain advantage over others. I have been playing as usual.

This is an issue with Blizzard and their system triggers false positives which Blizzard should acknowledge and take responsibility of. We the players should not have to worry about running legitimate software such as mouse/headset softwares that could potentially be seen as bad by Blizzards bad anti cheat or whatever.

i honestly believe that you are in the right here. considering the lack of evidence to be shown why you are being accused of a third party software.

it doesnt matter if blizzard is correct here or not. if they have evidence of you going against the code of conduct then they need to show us the ‘‘one being accused’’ if they are factually correct.

its only natural.

but blizzard often shows this spoiled like brat-like figure and could probably say something like that its not in their code of conduct to show you any evidence.

im pretty sure a disrespectful company like that would come up with something like that.

that being said. i cant help you sorry.

There has been lots of these threads last couple of days on US forums too. Usually I tend to not really believe these banned people when they claim they haven’t cheated but there has been so much bans that I’m kinda wondering if there has been an error on Blizzard’s part.

You could have asked for the date of infrigment. if it was a day when you were not playing, then it could have been that someone logged into your account from another country (or with vpn on).

Because if your account is logged into in a country it hasn’t been connected to, it will get banned.
This is in place to stop account trading i think.

you were banned for cheating. NExt time do not cheat.

Tired of bots who pretend not cheating, twitching, autoshooting and then after ban come into forums to cry that they been banned.

Well done, really helpful reply…

I have the exact same happening to me, I wasnt playing for a week actually, thought I can hop on and play some fun games before I hop off just to see im permanently banned for cheating? Ive been on the game for atleast 5 years and actually bought a lot of stuff on here just to find out ive been banned for cheating when ive never ever touched any kind of cheats or anything even similar/close to it…

I wrote a ticket about it, lets see if it does anything, reading the stuff on here tho it probably wont…

Yeah i could try to ask that. Though at this point i dont think they will actually give any answer because they havent replied to what i have been typing in the appeals, they just reply with a premade text so it is just like talking to a wall. I looked at my account history and it has only been me as far as i can see and my IP has only been from where i am. Ofcourse something could have happened further back which i cannot see.

Sadly you only really get the one or two appeals before they just stop responding.

It feels really unfair if someone truly has not done anything against the tos and are just genuinely trying to get information on their situation, only to get stonewalled.

Make new account, and don’t cheat anymore they will catch you again.
It would be redicilous to think Blizzard dosn’t have any protection agains cheaters.

Sry if i havent read all the replies, the truth is they have reactivated an aggresive AI for cheat detection. I heard good things about it actually, but it also puts ppl with chat reports on a ban list and just counts down, so it doesnt even need to be toxic, enemy team doesnt like you and if they are a stack you get mass reported and get an auto ban.

Mass report from enemy team in OW 1 already cost an account, one of my beloved, simply dont say “cake” in chat or even join voice or anything. Funny how you cant mute chat, only your own.

Its actually against EU laws to listen to game chatter, no matter how you formulate your EULA, LAW > EULA !

So if you think these rights of yours were violated. Sue them!

For me… hmm… picking targets.

They permanently banned my main account on 27/09/23 which was pre-ordered 3k hours on it, lots of rare skins, all OW1 skins, lvl 2k+, most of OW2 skins, master/top500 in comp all the time and they also say that I was cheating and then they say it was a behavior issue, they don’t wanna talk to me and just macro answer me.

Hi!

This had also happened to me… REALLY STUPID! :slightly_frowning_face:
I had also contacted Blizzard through submitting a ban appeal.
They are not allowed to discuss any of the information that had been detected during the investigation, like what cheats or which third party software had been detected.
They also claimed that several people validated my ban, which I think is strange, since if they would’ve watched my games they would know I am not a cheater…

My account was silenced for 2 weeks also like a couple days before. (which I take full responsibility for (sorry I’ma toxic d00d sometimes)).

But the ban? I did not cheat, nor did I use any software which changed the normal game files in whatever way possible. I even main support and the last week had been a bad week haha. :astonished:

Let’s keep each other updated in this process and let us hope we can assist each other if necessary.

Stay strong :muscle:
