Unfair Account Ban

Hey Hieiko,

Nice thought, I had this thought as well and I had asked them.
They were not able (or not allowed) to give any information about the investigation, including the date(s)…

Thanks tho! :heart_decoration:

At least you can confirm with them the dates when you weren’t playing and that alone could help your case.

I hope you get the account back, but you never know.

i think error may happen, but with so many, A LOT OF cheating in-game almost every game, i think most of them are accurate.

Well, Overwatch is the ALL TIME lowest rated game on steam. I got an email from Blizzard saying my account was banned, with a game tag that wasn’t even mine. If they can’t even send the email to the correct person, I have no trust in anything else they are doing.

Same just happened to me as well, got booted a few times from the server and placed back into queue after reinstalling the game for the Halloween event and to see if there’s any new good skins this time around for the heroes that I play, only to then come back to the message that my account has been perma banned with no prior warnings for anything (never got any warnings or suspensions for anything in all of my years playing this game in general) and with no reason for it given in the e-mail either, so I don’t even know what I supposedly got my account closed for.

I had this (only) account almost since the beginning of OW 1, many cosmetics n stuff, haven’t used VC or text chat (had it disabled due to toxicity, so I didn’t even see it - I played mostly on US servers with my friends back in the days and toxicity was extra bad there, much worse than EU, and I just never turned it back on afterwards), been playing mostly QP and arcade for the past few years whenever I reinstalled the game, since I was tired of cheaters in ranked, never threw, never cheated, nothing - and today, bam, suddenly my entire account is gone with no reason given for the ban after many reconnects, without even being to play a single match for more than 2 minutes before getting booted back into queue (and I’m not holding my breath for a decent response to my ticket either, given the responses others are getting for this) …

So many people coming out regarding unfair bans.

Given how buggy this game is, no doubt the tool that they use to catch/ban people is bugged!!

Just a quick update on my account’s situation - Blizzard, to no surprise, gave me a generic copy-paste response, not answering anything, and then immediately closed my ticket, in order to prevent me from further requesting them to provide any evidence as to why my account was suddenly closed without a single warning. I have now sent them a new one, demanding them to explain themselves to me, but again, I won’t be holding my breath, given how other players are being treated in regards to this, especially since they also added in their generic response that they won’t be answering any further tickets from me regarding this (wow, aren’t they “nice”? but they sure can take my money no problem).

This should serve as a severe warning to all players, veteran and new, who are planning on spending any money whatsoever on this game, to think twice before buying any (more) skins, because tomorrow they may just wake up to having their account suddenly closed for no reason, like many of us did. Thank god it at least happened before I’d end up purchasing the new BP and any of the new Halloween skins from the store (was really looking forward to Ashe and Mercy one).

I guess this is the reward us loyal, long time players get in return (sudden account closure for no reason and then radio silence from Blizz) - because losing the game that we paid for (OW1) apparently wasn’t enough …

And honestly, even if by some miracle I’d get my account back and all the things that I’ve purchased on it over the years, if anyone at Blizzard will even bother to look at my situation, instead of giving me automated bot responses on my tickets, I’m never coming back to this game again, and I’ll definitely be joining those “review bombers” on Steam now. Just when I thought this company could not sink any lower, they did (they never cease to amaze me) …

An update on my situation as well:
I have been sending new appeals after another as soon as they have closed them.

They then escalated the matter and did some more investigation - or so they say. So after a week they now have replied:

Thank you for your continued correspondence. After an additional thorough review of the action taken against this account, we have arrived at the same conclusion. The account action will not be removed under any circumstance.

While we understand that you may have concerns regarding the nature or application of the policies related to this account action, we must reiterate that it is the result of a breach of the Terms of Use (Legal – Blizzard Entertainment), which all players accept before accessing the game environment.

As this issue has been reviewed by multiple representatives, it is now considered closed. Should you have any questions regarding a different account or issue, please feel free to contact us again. Further inquiries regarding this issue will no longer receive a reply.

So the conlusion is that Blizzard is a sadistically fascist, greedy and contradictory company.

They suppress and silences bans by not really wanting us to speak of bans and appeals. They have closed and deleted multiple threads in the past. They dont want to discuss the matter or provide details or evidence of the bans. They say it is for your ”privacy”

They steal our money because after we have thrown in some to them they just feel like banning us however they want.

They are contradictory when they say that they ban players because ”These policies and conditions allow us to maintain a fun and safe game environment for all of our players.”

So sorry to hear that. I guess I shouldn’t be hoping for any better outcome in my case either then … :pensive:

And I love how in all the years of playing, all the people that kept sending me and my one female friend death and rape threats simply due to us being female gamers, which sadly wasn’t a rare occurrence in this game (hence we’ve later on disabled all in-game chat), never got any action taken against them, yet alone had their accounts closed - heck, even straight up rage hackers that I came across in my ranked games were around for far far far too long, despite all the reports (idk how Blizz is magically “unable to detect” those to this day); but when it comes to us honest, long time players, we get our accounts closed without a warning, explanation, and without a single second dedicated to actually looking into our appeals against that. Did I go a bit too long without buying a new skin for their tastes, so they decided that I wasn’t one of their so called “core audiences” anymore, or what? /s

Thank you. Im also sorry to hear about your situation. I have had my fair share of toxicity against me and it really is a horrible experience while i can not imagine how it must feel for female gamers.

Youre right, the players that make the bad environment seem to stuck around and maybe get their communication disabled for a while or not even that. But honest and legitimate players who do no wrong is the ones that get screwed from both ways - the bad players and the company.

Yeah, i would not keep my hopes up if i were you. Keep trying with your appeals and see where it leads but prepare mentally that this is ultimately the end. I have uninstalled everything made by Blizzard and wont be giving them any money or using anything made by them anymore.

Yeah, I’ve already uninstalled Overwatch now, which was the one and only game from Blizzard I’ve ever purchased, after my friends suggested it to me (and I definitely won’t be purchasing any other games from them, that’s for sure), since even if I’d magically manage to get my account back, they’ve now gone way too far for me to dedicate a single second or cent more to this game and this company in general.

Plus, all of my friends have already stopped playing this game before OW2 even dropped due to all the said issues with the game and this company in general, so I see no reason why I should even bother sticking around anymore, even if I do end up getting my account back. I guess I should go looking for another game to play in my free time …

I have stopped the purchasing of the BattlePass for instance due to the mass account bans. They can’t be trusted. They took away Overwatch, and now they look like they’re trying to strip people of their earnt/purchased inventories.

Good. Yeah same for me, even if i would get it back in the future because they may realize there is a fault in their system or whatever the trust and joy is gone.

I also have to fill that void of emptiness that once were Overwatch during my free time as well.

If anything happens in these forums, like they delete the thread and stuff, i will be on Reddit, my name there is Fijsk and i posted the same update i did here in this thread: Reddit - Dive into anything

I don’t have a reddit account, but thanks for letting me know. Will be keeping an eye on this reddit post that you’ve linked as well, to see how this situation will turn out. I’ve noticed that US OW forums are also seeing an uptick of such posts right now, so something is definitely up with OW’s reporting system. Idk what they did to it, but they most certainly did something, and not in a good way …

Yeah i was in a thread over in the US forums that just deleted a whole thread right after i and a few others had posted, so thats why i was linking the reddit post here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Holy crap … Though since it’s Blizzard, I am honestly not even surprised at this point that they resort to doing such things (especially given how I’m being treated by their “customer support” right now). :expressionless:

Wise choice, you can’t trust Blizzard forums to be non-bias.

Got banned for playing with a cheater.
I LFG so it’s whatever. 1 day. No LFG I guess
Get unbanned.
Play comp…
Someone finally isn’t completely useless.
Invite.
2 week ban.
Glad that cheater just purchased another smurf and got back on. That’s my wacky and wild guess. I get bent over. Cheater spends $1 for a new account.
Never had a previous action. Back to back unluckers.
Love to see it.

Sorry to hear that. :frowning:
In my case I always played solo (aside from those few years back, when I was still playing with my friends), so it definitely wasn’t that either. Plus I’ve only been playing QP and arcade ever since OW2 dropped (and even for a while while OW1 was still up I haven’t touched comp anymore, since the introduction of RQ).
