You should think twice before posting because you just implied that a Bronze player can carry a Grandmaster game which we know is impossible so your statement is factually incorrect.
They are the reason because they are the majority of the performance needed to win a game and if they suck then you lose the game, thus, you lose rank.
You don’t get that winning or losing in any solo queue team-based game is vastly dependent on RNG. In OW there are 12 players in the game which means that you are basically doing “good or bad player” roulette for 11 slots and if you get more bad players than your enemy then you are most likely to lose that game.
Add to that ranking system which takes away 4 wins with 1 loss and a player who is incapable of consistent carry and you have your typical [Player 1] stuck in ranking hell somewhere on the bottom.
Sadly, even tho we have some control over the win/loss it’s simply a lesser influence and people who are ranking up are simply luckier on the good/bad player RNG.
But technically it could be possible, at dramatically reduced odds. It is improbable rather than impossible.
But based on your assumption. You’d need to get a bronze player in that game first. Which is pretty rare.
There is an element of rng, true. But again, you can only control what you do. So ultimately the result for you is based on what you do.
And if you deserve that bigger SR number, or that higher rank. Then you’ll be carrying more games than not anyways.
The other way round it is just not to worry. Chill out, what will be will be and enjoy playing. I am sure we’d all like to improve out skills, hit GM and be smug about it. But ultimately, does it matter. Will that improve your life in anyway… I’d suggest not.
I didn’t assume anything because you literally said “ANY player ANY game” so I’m just following rules set by your incompetent claim
Maybe instead of backpedaling and nitpicking just say “ok, it was a stupid claim, nvm” but here you are doing mental gymanstics.
That would be true if you were playing 1v1 not 6v6 where the performance of 5 other people + bad/good player RNG roulette is pretty much dictating whether you gonna win or lose.
so you admit your performance is 1/6th of the total team performance and are not a troll. thats nice.
1/6th is equal to 16%. Thats how much of your rank that is anchored in your personal skill.
as such, i do not know of any “competitive” games where the ranking system has a 16% chance of getting it right.
and also no.
No.
thats not how addatives of percentige work, the “large number of games” that you would need to play, in one season, for the rank to reach equilibrium and reflect personal performance, in a 6vs6 setup, is impossible to achieve… purely mathematically speaking.
16% is just to little to make any real assumptions of skill.
thus, your rank is not personal to your skill level, its not personal at all.
and we see the poor performance in the amount of uneven/unbalanced games.
the ranking systems is not dynamic in a way that it has to be. It do not even try to mix and match players “main” heros/roles. (in open)
i could not have said it better myself.
this is the mathematical truth of the ranking system.
math dont lie.
no, a small number of people actually understands math.
true story.
so basically the rank system is a trap.
+1
Yeah you say you only lose 25 +/-, but i’ve just lost 60 pts in one plat game… I played tank and our whole team was just not well put together - the matchmaking system did not select the team based on our previous individual performance in a team…
really the only viable options was just to “ok thanks blizz, next game please”
(saying anything to teammates about what they pick and how they play is not a viable options as you get banned for being “toxic” - no matter how socially skilled you are at “wrapping” up sentences in fluffy pink clouds of fuzziness … the ban system is 100% automatic and you cant really contest it as blizzard have a strict policy to not say facts or to discuss anything)
man… last time i checked you was at like 2200 rank… your have no right or credibility to tell people how they need to play in competitive.
stop comparing apples to toilets.
and stop writing on the forums please.
There you go. The classic someone disagrees so they shouldn’t be allowed to talk lol.
You write like you know your subject, then you drop in little nuggets of information that prove that actually, you don’t.
This whole mathematical idea that you’ve come up with for how SR works all sounds very fancy. But it is inaccurate, and just a detailed attempt and post rationalising the situation.
You are not proving me wrong. You are trying to de-bunk my message with a post-rationalizing of “how i must be feeling” emotional.
because clearly I’m not happy, thus it must be some elaborate psychological response of me reflecting the issues that I deep down have for my self… about my skill level in overwatch… (lol)
/facepalm
And for what reason are you doing this?!
seriously… its getting kinda tiresome.
You simply need to stop being a angry protester and stop reflecting your emotional need to “pick a fight online”
and perhaps come to terms with that the current ranking system is flawed …
annnnnd *drumrole because of the flaws… OW can only produce uneven and toxic matches.
Do what other are doing then, wash your hands of the game and find something that makes you happy. You don’t have enough time in life to faff about with throwaway things that don’t make you happy.
since we are all humans and nowhere near constant in our performance, this perfect equilibrium doesn’t exist anyway. Sometimes you overperform, sometimes you underperform, its never exactly 1/6. As long as yo tend to outperform your team-m8, you’ll gain rank over time, until you will be matched with roughly equally skilled people.
But what are we argueing here actually??
it is. It says which people you should be matched with in order to achieve halfway balanced matches. Its your personal attribute.
And this is wishful thinking “proof” for the fallacious argument that the player decides how much his going to climb. What you are saying only works for a selective small group of people and doesn’t work at all for the majority of the people.
Rank is mostly dependant on the performance of the 5/6 of your team and then on the performance of the 6 players on the enemy team. It’s utter RNG and anyone who is incapable of outperforming most of the players in the game will be always placed lower than his actual skill so arguing that you are somehow deciding how high you can climb is just a dishonest lie.
Arguing that if you play enough you will eventually climb is literally proving that it’s an RNG roulette where you bank on getting good players and enemy getting worse players.
No one is blaming anyone so idk what you are talking about.
You argued that losing or gaining rank is up to the player and his personal skill which was easily proven wrong.
Math is very simple, a single player is a mere 1/12 of the total equation and whether you get good or bad players on both sides is up to RNG, so whether you win or lose is mostly up to RNG which means losing/gaining rank is mostly up to RNG and not your own skill.
Yup. In the end, what rank you got is mostly up to how lucky you got with your teammates/enemy team roulette, and then minor influence comes from your skill.
It’s furthermore proven by RNG ruining placement matches and people being dropped good 3 ranks lower than they were at the end of the last season.
Blizzard is making a roulette system with exaggerated punishments and praying that personal skill will offset it enough so it’s not visible how bad is the system.
so you’re saying that I’m one season gold, the other GM, the other bronze and so on? No lmao, that’s not how it works. Playing this game for years, always roughly the same rank bouncing between low gold and low platin because I’m an average player.
Do you genuinely believe that diamond or masters players sometimes drop down to silver, due to bad luck with teammates?
Yes? It happens. if the enemy 6 players are all playing to their full potential, yet one slacks on your team, a lot, what team do you think has the best chance of winning?
That one person can ruin it for your team, dragging you down. It happens a lot in this game.
It’s a TEAM game, not a 1v1. If the team works well, you have a good chance, if one team mate decides to go rambo, good luck.
