Stuck at Lion Gate

When I try to launch the game, it’s stuck at the “lion gate” screen. It doesn’t get past it at all no matter how long I wait. It started 2 days ago. I usually get stuck at that screen for 20-30 seconds, and then the game loads and I can play properly with no problems. But now I always get stuck at lion screen forever. I’ve tried dozens of times

This started a day or two ago for no apparent reason. When I try to launch the game, it’s stuck at the “lion gate” screen. It doesn’t get past it at all no matter how long I wait. I also can’t launch the game or world editor directly, it only works when doing it through the battle.net app.

I’ve read other topics and I’ve tried possible solutions, but anything works:

  • Making a reset of my modem
  • Renewing/releasing and flushing DNS
  • Completely uninstalling the battle.net app and the game
  • Disabling my firewall.
  • Opening a map from Editor and trying to “test” the map
  • Executing game in window mode and/or with some specific video parameters.
  • Updating Windows (KB5052077)
  • Making a defrag of the disk
  • Some other stuff I’ve forgot

I’m desperated, I find no reason. Game worked properly (I played some matches every week) until 2 days ago. With no patch or update or nothing being installed.

What else can I do?

I too have this exact issue. A buddy of mine bought the game to play it but we can’t even because I am stuck with the same issue. Any luck on a fix?

I eventually solved my issue. I hope it can help others to pass the “lion gate” screen.
I launch the “Battle net launcher” as “administrator” and then I can load the game from there without problems.

I made some steps before but I guess these aren’t necessary:
-I created a new Windows user as administrator
-I tried to play the game with the new windows admin user I created and it worked.
-When logged in Windows with that new user, I gave permissions to my old user for the folder where War3 is installed. All the permissions I could (read, execute, etc).
-I deleted the new Windows user and tried the game with the old one. And it worked!

You Sir are a Saint! I have tried everything for the last 5 months since Blizzard ruined this game again with reforged #2. I mailed them 3 times only to be led around the bush with generic fixes that never worked. I reinstalled my OS, the game, my AV… everything. I posted on the forums also and no one was able to fix this issue until now. I have no idea why creating a new user would work but low and behold IT DOES! So thank you from the bottom of my heart you are truly a life-saviour!

Try starting the game from blizz launcher instead of war3 launcher. Make sure you run it as administrator.
