šŸŽ GD Chat Room (Part 2)

hate it. Alkways makes me ill.

Same.

Hate beef.

I wouldnā€™t give that disgusting slop to a starving dog, I feel myself dry heaving just remembering being a taxi driver and having to deal with 12am drunks staggering over the road to the rank from the kebab shop looking like theyā€™re holding a solid gold ingot, the smell reaching me ten minutes before they do, the ā€œsauceā€ oozing out of the side of the plastic carton and the coup de grace, when they open it despite you telling them very clearly NOT to slapping wafer-thin pieces of what I guess you could call meat around their chin like a 5-year-old eating spaghetti or they lean their head back and drop limp lettuce into their gaping maw as once again, ā€œsauceā€ runs in rivulets down the sides of their mouth.

Then turn round to you, burp loudly and say ā€œken whaur ahā€™m gauin!ā€

ā€œAye. yes ah do. The next car. Get oot, ah told you not to open that bloody thingā€

Was conflicted about whether or not to press like. On the one hand, salami/pepperoni/beef is great. On the other, kebabs are one of the worst things in existence and you articulated that quite well.

Iā€™m a very picky eater, I will only eat peppered ham, bacon chicken breast and black pudding. Any other kind of meat, get it away from me!!!

Just give me a plate of roast spuds, bacon, gravy (I like that), peas, broccoli, sprouts and skirlie and you lot can scarf down as much pork chops or chilli beef as you want lol

Iā€™m always confused about what people outside of Italy mean with pepperoni and salami.

Here ā€œsalameā€ is this:

And ā€œpeperoniā€ is this:

But I get this isnā€™t what normally people outside of here mean

Funnily enough, in Swiss German peperoni (the vegetables) is actually called peperoni as well. In Germany (and I think Austria) itā€™s paprika (and in Italian paprika is the powder spice you add to chips). :eyes:

And salame is salami, but I think in standard German as well.

Oh right! The first one is what we call ā€œsalame piccanteā€ (spicy salame), and I did NOT know about paprika! Thatā€™s really interesting

What about metwurst? We use alot metwurst on sandwitches and pepperone goes in pizzas and salami is those lil snack bars that one perhaps takes for picnic or hike. Hard rye bread with cheese and metwurst and cucumbers example, these are good with black peppers on the side.

Heres pepperone used in pizza. My Finnish wiki says its Italian-American spicy salami sausage with 3 different meat. Invented by Italian immigrants in New York in early 1900 era, for pizzas I imagine. Later around 1984 also in New York, TMNT found it as their main source of food from Master Splinter. :turtle:

I donā€™t know if it has a translation here, perhaps itā€™s just one of the many spicy salami we have here too! Usually though, the spicy one we use on pizza - if itā€™s of good quality, itā€™s the ā€œspianata calabraā€ which is very tasty and spicy:

Thats everywhere these days tbh just luck, few years ago I went to my original hometown in eastern Helsinki and my wallet was lifted from backpocket immediately I went down in the metro station platform. Gang of 10 kids surrounded me and one of them lifted my wallet and they ran away and tossed the empty wallet on ground.
