I am much more blunt lol.
I would say exactly what i shouted in his face but would prob earn a vacation here.
I didnt mean you specifically:)
But my doctors there is always more grey heads than seats there most of them very obviously just have a cold and a cough but at that age even that is serious i guess.
Its frustrating cause it makes seeing anyone for anyone with a real problem a nightmare.
2 hours just to get through to reception.
1 week to see just a off site physio phonecall
3 weeks to a month to chat to your own gp on a phone, wouldnt like to know how long a in person appointment would take.
That is usually pharmacy times, related to drug addictions.
They all queue there everymornung to get their daily fix.
Nope this was about wasting Doctor’s time.
These days you get to see a doctor faster by going to A and E.
Well i can only speak from personal experience and my surgery is elderly which fill the seats.
Could be different in your location but i dont live there so cant speak for that.
Just out of curiosity when you say youths how young are you speaking?
Cause i can kinda understand toddlers as they are about as fragile as elderly.
Yeah ive been told this alot recently too.
But i rather leave the a&e to people who actually have life threatening injury.
I think it depends on where you are. The doctor’s waiting room where I live (if you pass the book-an-appointment vetting) does have some elderly but a lot more toddlers and young children. I think a lot of young families are moving into the area but, of course, there are no new doctors’ surgeries and our 2 not local hospitals are horrendous to try to get to get an appointment until you’re actually on a consultant’s list then it goes much more smoothly but, even with something urgent, it can take months
And when I’ve been in hospital there seems to have been quite a bit of disdain of GPs from the doctors there.
I think some of that depends heavily on where you live. Our local GP use the Klinik system where we fill in a form online and they triage your issue. So I can usually hear back from a GP via phone same day if it’s something that need seeing. Then less urgent stuff they just slot in a day or so later. If they don’t need to speak to you at all sometimes I just get a text back saying x or y was arranged for me. Like a one off prescription for something.
Ours has just joined the system. I’m hoping it will improve things.
I ordered my next batch of repeat prescriptions (which you have to do 6-monthly now), got a reply that it had been sent to Tesco within 5 minutes and a message from Tesco 10 minutes after that to say the first one was ready to be picked up. That was impressive.
A&e’s are for emergancy use.
People are using them as a fast track to the local gp so its understandable that they would have some ill feeling towards gps not being able to see everyone.
Say i walked into a&e with a trapped nerve and demand a xray asap which they give.
Meanwhile joe blogs walks in after severing his fingers in a works accident but has to wait for the xray room before getting treated because i selfishly went there with a lesser problem wasting time and resources.
You can understand the disdain.
I use an online pharmacist and it works pretty well. They remind me to reorder my prescriptions, I put in a request and it’s done and I get it in the mail.
I used to be on anti-depressants but had to take myself off of them because i would never get hold of the prescription service to keep a regular dosage so i constantly stopping starting taking them which is very dangerous.
So i took myself off of them.
My gp actually still thinks i takethem 8 months after i stopped because i havent been able to contact them either
Sounds awful system where you are. Even before this new system repeat prescriptions worked.
