Which is something I’ve asked for years in World of Warcraft.
Whilst we obviously can’t have a whole StarCraft II expansion for obvious lore reasons, there is a way for us to enjoy a crossover event without harming the lore:
The Caverns of Time: Blizzard’s most underutilized tool.
New raid: “The Fall of Aiur”
The Caverns send you in an unknown time and place. For this special raid, all player characters are transformed into Draenei.
As you exist the portal, you arrive on Aiur, where the Protoss think of you as some long forgotten common ancestor of their species. Their curiosity for your kind is short lived however, as the Zerg’s assault on Aiur begins.
Several locations are under attack: you use Dragonriding to access them all, allowing you to fly across a breathtaking, futuristic Protoss city, to aid in its defense.
Eventually, you venture deeper into Zerg territory, storming a nearby hatchery and defeating its queen, before joining Tassadar and witnessing its final confrontation with the Overmind.
Despite this blow dealt to the Zerg, the Protoss are forced to abandon Aiur. You’re teleported on their ship, where your final spoils await, and you can finally exit the raid.
The potential is huge.
Exploring the StarCraft universe from a third character point of view, with World of Warcraft’s graphics
Raid mechanics inspired by StarCraft mechanics and each race’s unique identity
Creating the most epic raiding experience ever seen in the MMORPG genre
Being rewarded with a baneling mount, rolling around with your character swimming inside it, and a unique explosion animation when you dismount
This must happen. There is no other way.
