Donât hate me but
Iâd ask for the opposite of this - a specific LFG channel for selling boosts for in game gold.
Selling boosts for gold isnt a ToS violation, only the channel is. As itâs annoying to wade through boost selling spam to find non transactional groups, and probably asking too much of Blizzard to constantly police the current situation, just create a separate LFG channel for it and make it legal to do.
In addition, Blizzard may not see it as in its interests to crack down on a practice which keeps people playing the game and subscribing
The elephant in the room is the proportion of folks seeking boosts for gold can be correlated highly with one thing: Player frustration. Whereas some of this frustration can be put down to laziness or a cheat kind of mentality, I humbly submit that the bulk of it is down to poor and frustrating game design, for example:
If Torghast offered soul ash for each boss, not just the end boss, and the end boss wasnât unkillable for many people, why buy a Torghast boost for gold?
If you love BGs, and get fully geared through honour, your BG experience shouldnât be fighting those who have fully geared through conquest and have twice your stats or HP. If conquest gear was de-scaled to honour gear in BGs, why buy a conquest boost to do BGs?
If valor could be applied to LFR and HC dungeon loot, and earned through world quests etc, then those who canât mythic or raid wouldnât have to buy mythic or raid boosts to avoid hitting a total wall of stagnation in terms of item level.
If levelling an alt was much easier - for example - if youâve geared your main to renown 40, your first alt levels 10% faster and starts its covenant with 10 renown, your second alt 20% and 20 renown; your first legendary is achieved from one Torghast run etc, then those frustrated at levelling alts woudnât need to buy boosts.
The market for boosting exists partly from cheat mentality, but largely from bad game design which leaves a large amount of the player base isolated and frustrated. Make the game KINDER to people and I suspect not only would there be a better player retention but boosting would drop.
