Skyriding or Steady Flight? Or a bit of Both?

Both.

Skyriding for long distances, steady flight for mining / gathering.

When I get out of the portal room in Orgrimmar or inside Thunder Bluff portal room I use Dynamic flight, because I always hit my head in the ceiling if I use Sky riding.

Only skyriding until they revert the horrible 5 sec cast, I’m not doing that or using steady flying at all now.

Skyriding almost exclusively. Steady flight maybe for RP purposes.

I like both flying styles. The 5 sec cast to change style is a little annoying. It would be nice if they changed this to an instant aura with a short CD instead.

Both while swapping was seamless. I mostly stick to steady now that the benefit of swapping is somewhat diminished by the cast time, unless I’m flying across half a continent.

At the moment: Skyriding. But when I reach max level in TWW and unlock steady flight, I might be using that to farm ore and do quests and such; vigor messes with the flow of doing that.

If not for vigor Skyriding would be much, much better: Just cooldowns on skills. No vigor.

Think I would go with Skyriding but generally its only ground mounts enabled in instanced settings especially arena or battlegrounds for me. I like that some cool ground mounts still are able to fly if skyriding enabled tho. :dracthyr_a1:

Steady Flight…100%

I am not a fan of Dragonriding (soz Blizz)…particularly the initial experience which felt like a prodigiously bugged flying quest (reinforced by the final discovery of the autopilot option, nearby)…only persevered because I suspected ground mount only /not using it, would prevent following the Main quest line.

The controls just feels incredibly clunky and frustrating:

Up…UP! UP!.. up up up up …Gliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide…now down, down… %*!$, Don’t overshoot!..DOWN, like a Peregrine Falcon, carrying a really big anchor!
…which I suppose is progress… relatively…'ish.

grumbling noises about Alleria’s no portal to Ulduar, really rubbing it in!

Steady flying. Chilled and precise.

I use flying only for short trips from the middle of nowhere to the next flightmaster.
For long distance I prefer flightpath and the bord service.

I loved the whistle…

For me, it is skyriding all the way.
I really enjoyed it when it was introduced in Dragonflight and only used steady flying-… Maybe three times.

Ground mounts ftw

Mostly Skyriding, but when I need to do alot of stuff in a small place like gathering, steady flight is the answer.

Depends on what I’m doing. If I’m travelling, or just having fun, I’ll use Skyriding. I just enjoy how that plays far more than Steady Flight. But if I’m RPing, either in an event, or some form of combat, I’ll swap to Steady Flight. Being able to hover while emoting, or waiting for responses to come through is much better than trying to quickly write things out while trying to stay airborne ^^’

Some get wings once take flight, like the runesaber and vulpine familiar. I can now use them again to match my mogs :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Both
Switchable with an instant spell not casting
Specially for druids, you need to hover sometimes, so it can be possible you hove then you flow as fast as possible without the need to cast 5s

it can be the active spell to have a cooldown like 5s like the hover option

Both for me.
I miss being able to instantly change mount to old flying when i want to.
Blizzard are experts at creating problems for no apparent reason.

I love both systems, and each have their place. Skyriding lets you thunder across the skies and get places quickly, whereas steady flight lets you search for a precise landing, e.g. at a NPC that may be hidden below the tree canopy. Having both types of mount on a toolbar was perfect. Now I hate that I can’t access both without a 5 second wait in between, and with maining a drood it seems a thousand times worse that my flight form has to be in one mode or the other. I love that old mounts can sky ride, but that being the case I want a per mount choice (technically more demanding, I know).

But considering that back in the day you had to run the length of the Wetlands before getting even a slow horse, it’s all relative.

Skyriding 99% of the time, even when gathering, but sometimes I want the precision for a very short hop between two nodes without the vigor cost or to get a treasure / other one time mcguffin that’s in a tree in the emerald dream for example.

I like the choice across mounts because, sorry, but I don’t like dragon mounts.
