Regardless of the issues with cast times and switching flight modes…
Nearly exclusively Skyriding. Actually…to be honest: Exclusively Skyriding so far since the pre-patch. But I also didn’t go mining or collecting herbs since.
Both, a lot.
Definitely both for me, need to be able to hover for abit when tackling tricky quests
A bit of both for me.
I pretty much exclusively use Steady Flight as I don’t get on with Skyriding (yes even experimenting with all the settings).
I would just like Blizz to fix the Otterworldly Ottuk Carrier so it’s not the only mount that comes up randomly.
Both, usually sky riding as default, but for gathering and frequent quests, I use steady as it is better for short distances and continuous mounting/dismounting
Both. Skyriding for longer distances and steady for shorter ones (during questing for example).
Both. For short flights i prefer steady one.
Mostly skyriding but sometimes I swap if I am not going very far for a while or I need my swimming mount. I miss not having a button - I can’t use any mount without wings as a skyriding mount anyway. Bleeeeh nausea extreme.
I am in the both camp definitely. I swap flight modes a lot.
Skyriding for PvE, Steady Riding for RP.
Dracthyr soar ability with Steady Riding allows you to hover in the air, which is brilliant.
I use both, dragonriding for long distances and slow flying for short distances
Both… Skyriding for the most part, but if I’m doing something that has me starting and stopping a lot - like gathering herbs (strictly for medicinal purposes, you understand) then I’ll use the traditional flying.
When in skyriding mode, I’ll also very occasionally also use Zen Flight - especially if I’ve messed up and run out of vigor or something silly
I had great fun with skyriding in DF, but as time passes I’m finding myself looking back fondly to steady flight more and more often.
Luckily I don’t have motion sickness or anything, but skyriding feels way too fast for my taste. It’s fun to glide and soar around, but at the same time I feel like I’m missing out on the overall exploration experience. I have always been a bit critical of old flying, because it trivialises the world too much, but skyriding turns the world into a blur of colours devoid of any meaning.
I still like it, but I’ll stick to ground exploration as much as I can when TWW launches, and when it’s available I’ll probably prefer static flight, only resorting to skyriding when I need to cover long distances after I’m already familiar with the new zones.
I just use skyriding all the time.
It’s very advantageous when flying longer distances.
And then I just accept the Launchpad McQuack style of crash landings for all the shorter flights as being the way it is.
It’s not very elegant when you’re smashing into the side of a wall because you wanted to fly from the bank to the auction house, which in reality translates to catapulting yourself from the bank and through the door to the auction house and straight into a wall, because of inadequate ways of steering and slowing down, and way too much speed.
But I can’t be bothered to switch modes.
And you do get to your destination fast.
Unless it’s on a branch on top of a tree.
If they removed the vigor cost to just take off that’d be great… then there’d be no need for me to use Steady Flight for hopping from point to point doing quests.
Worgen Running Wild mount mode racial cannot do either still
it should be able to dragonrun
I agree with this, that is so frustrating.
I do use both quite a lot and even if the above point was addressed, I’d still use steady flight but perhaps a little less.
