i`d say times changed.

every game is now quick play
league of legends dota fortnite even wow nowadays people just gogogo
or diablo 4 / poe 2 rushing endgame
wow even get its own fortnite mode soon xD

we live in zoomer times

Currently iā€™m playing a game Freelancer , the community is very small but still we have fun every time we login into the game and we are like 30-100 players

How ?

I have 300+ completed m+ in tww and until now nothing , even at the end letā€™s do another or great run , is simply some BB and many donā€™t even say nothing just q/group and thatā€™s all.
Raids ? i have like 20 runs (not all completed) but still the 1st 6 bosses are just silence where 5/6 we say some detail of what people should do ^^.
Last week i had 14 dungeons completedā€¦ nothing . Today i did 1x 10 . 3 people with me talked(just said hi) while the other not even said hi **

Or
Are you speaking about classic ?

Iā€™m 51 lvl . i got recruited into a guild just because we had fun doing dungeons and within 1 day we completed like 6 dungeons together ( Even added irl contact ).
People in classic behave more mature or to say with social aspect while retail is a solo game .

Majority of the games that iā€™m playing and i mean MMO have an superior social aspect than WoW.

Iā€™m always constantly asked where are you from , wanna do some grp/farm etc with the games iā€™m playing (Once the 1st question start with name , countries it easy to have a conversation and have interaction within an MMO ) . WoW is basically a Lf tool that you donā€™t need any interaction and thatā€™s how it became .

Most people on discord now.

Before it was harder to get voice channel like ventrillo or tsm (i even paid for a part for it), so thats one reason why more people chatting ingame.

Go with the flown or left behind.

I have had some conversation with people, usually when somebody messes up and we have a laugh and if we decide to do more than 1 dungeon with each other. So thatā€™s pretty much during levelling or timewalking. Also waiting for events to begin, though that was more in DF with the soup and such.

By not joining tryharding ā€œonly pumpers gogogo only blasters +3ā€ or whatever the fudge keys. Had like 4 keys the last couple days where people did talk including one today.

Same goes for raids. And I also donā€™t instantly leave after a wipe. Its not uncommon for me to stick in a raid for half an eternity until it completely disbands.

No. I am talking about retail.

Ofc nobody sane talks when fake reports get gwtvyou suspended.

Most poeple Play with disabled chats to not risk loosing their accounts

Well, those social folks are usually in guilds and they usually use Discord or whatever voice communication software/platform because itā€™s faster than typing, OR they only type in guild chat.
As you adequately put, most random talks are trash talks, the rest are gold se- Iā€™m sorry I mean farmers and crafters in the trade/services channels.

This and all the soloqs they added but didnt do any rework on rated system or compensation for the coordinated modes, that dont work no more as pvp system is entirely participation based. All these soloq systems and what was described, effectively made people not speak and play chat disabled.

I had about 70 people added through lfg from shadowlands for arenas that I dont play with anymore since dragonflight made whole pvp playerbase move into shuffles, and now this blitz along it. Speaking in soloqs is a risk of someone reporting what one says and in general you will never see these people again so what is even the point try make any friends if we are unable to play with them if there is no modes worth playing with friends for pvp. The social aspect on pvp is effectively ruined hence. And the game were still suppose to be mmo, so why cant I play with my friends or why is there no point for guilds and communities for pvp no more. I would like to ask this from whoever is on charge of these changes and not doing anything to fix the situation even after 2 years now :dracthyr_shrug:

The least effort they could have done would been make each mode separately % based for these shared rewards we now have between all modes, and add decay on ranks if people are inactive on them for too long time, preventing people just sitting their highest ones while they are smurfing lower ratings for funzies.

People have no more incentive within the game to be normal and communicate. Over the years WoW gradually started catering more and more to the socially awkward and the introverts. It is what it is. Itā€™s mostly a solo game now.

Well, since I like not being dependant on others to play WoW, I have to disagree with that.
But, I will add: It would be nice if we could have a choice for a lot of things. So that those who want to socialize, can and have more opportunity for that. And those who do not, are not forced to.

But, I think that if given the choice, the vast majority of players will choose the non-socializing way. And if thatā€™s indeed the case; then WoW moving away from forcing socializing is a good thing.

That says more about you if your ā€˜friendsā€™ are strangers. Do you expect people to come to you. Put some effort into it.

LOUD HEAVY STOMP

You just used up your dayā€™s toilet break. Get back to work.

this 100%.
agreed

Social moments happen veryā€¦ Rarely. And yeah, a lot of it does have to do with people having stunted attention spans, having a lot of things to distract them inbetween doing content, so on and so forth. But I still managed to find some social moments here and there.

Like I noticed someone having a name from a book series and shared a few words with 'em about it, or gave a bit of comfort to someone who died during a boss in LFR today. Small but nice moments. Does kinda feel lonely at times.

Letā€™s see where the direction goes from now. :slightly_smiling_face:

I stopped using chat when that caused me to get kicked from dungeon. Called out afker at entrance

I sometimes reminisce of vanilla, BC and wotlk when I was in a very active guild, chatting away for hours and helping each other with quests, dungeons and woth professionals if someone needed something crafted.

But I was young and dumb, life hadnā€™t yet sucked all the joy and happiness from me, now I just want to play the game and not talk to people because all my energy goes to being social irl.

We grew up
We donā€™t have time for those things, we are glad to have time to ourselves!

Light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were :notes:

I capped 6 bases in blitz arathi basin on my mage and some wrote in chat ā€œreport mage afkā€ we literally even won 1500-1480 something and wouldnt probably if I wouldnt been only one trying to cap something instead of fighting between objectives like the rest were doing. Yet some of them looked dmg done and thought I was afk and started shouting in chat. Thats pretty much how much the chat is worth with pugs in pvp. I even saved screen of the guy saying ā€œreport mage afkā€ and scoreboard showing me having 6 caps so I can come back to this later on when feel like enable chat in these solo modes playing with random pugs with various amounts of processing power between ears :man_facepalming:

Im just trying have fun like everyone else aswell and I dont find it fun explaining the simplest strats or basic concepts of 20 year old battlegrounds in general to people. They could just disable chat as default in these solo modes to avoid people getting agitated or spam nonsense in chat in general. Or just remove the solo modes and make people build contacts and well socialize with other people like it used to be and always were before dragonflight. The game is mmo, I dont understand why it would be made entirely into something solo. Completely counterintuitive to mmos or what wow has been till dragonflights shuffles.
