Normal is flexable and an infinite amount of players can be swapped in and out as long as you are on the same boss or before.
Heroic however is not flexable and you are locked to the players you entered with. Thats whats happening. If you are going Heroic, make sure you bring the same players.
Could you please share the source of this information? Maybe blue post or wowhead?
P.S. I found out that bug with the same description was created on cata-classic-bugs. Issue #1402. Status: research needed. Maybe it will bear fruits.
Happened to us in 10man last night, we had killed 2 heroic bosses previously, then last night our Healer had real life problems so we had to take another healer who was NOT SAVED. We got 1 wipe on Heroic then when we ran back in we couldn’t zone in a saying someone was already saved and we could only continue on normal. Total wasted our time ruined our raid night, had to finish everything on normal. It’s totally screwed and now we are gonna have to limit our wipes and make sure we clear BWD or BoT in 1 night incase someone can’t come for the 2nd raid night. Needs fixing!!!
There is plenty of threads about this exact issue, in those threads there is workarounds to the bug. I have provided info on how in multiple threads.
Just leave raid group, and try to enter the raid with heroic mode turned ON. Keep entering, creating nee raid groups with different leaders until one is able to enter.
Everyone join that group, and you should be able to continue.
Do not release and run in after wipes, but have wipe protection up, or a healer run back to mass res, the bug only seem to occur again if everyone leave the instance
False. If this was the case, then the players being locked out wouldn’t have the ability to zone in at all in the first place. We are seeing players being locked out only AFTER a wipe. So the players are part of a HC attempt, we wipe, these players are then unable to enter the raid again.
