10.0 Conquest gear + wpvp

My understanding is that unrated players will have access to Conquest gear in 10.0 (:+1:t3:), and that rating will upgrade ilvl for PvE.

Do we know if base conquest gear will be suitable for wpvp?

I like that wpvp is a bit more free-form & people can use their crazy trinkets / toys / tier-sets / world buffs etc, but I’m wondering how much lower base conquest gear will be (outside of PvP instances) to the fully upgraded folk?
-I’ll be content as long as I can log-in & play BGs, but if we’re able to ‘take part’ (not be perma-fodder) in wpvp, even better.

Wouldn’t it be scaled up in warmode? And the pve ilvl only with warmode off and on instanced events.

I hope.

Indeed they should make it equal so its not a guarantee lose vs a full conquest. They do it in FFXIV and they did in Legion dont know why they reverted it. Ofc people who earned better gear would still have an edge but not this much.
I hate gearing up in pvp atm until you get enough honor you are just a free hk.

Yeh idk why they thought ridic gear disparity would be a good thing, it just excludes many people from playing. That’s why I thought templates were great -just log in & play, like every other successful PvP game I can think of.

BfA + SL would have been infinitely more enjoyable if they’d considered everyone’s experience when designing gear.

I hope Smuknight’s correct & ‘WM on’ scales everyone to ~similar ilvl & they can keep the infinite upgrades/perma-grind model in PvE.

Nope.

Their plan is to remove PvP ilvl scaling in any PvE environment full stop. If you want your character to perform in wPvP or Warmode you’d need to grind the PvE ilvl upgrades.

They haven’t made any conclusive equivalence between PvE tiers and conquest gear yet, Holinka said something to the effect that conquest will be on par with the best PvE gear available while in instances PvP. If I had to wager that means conquest PvP ilvl will be the same as Mythic raid gear but better optimized for PvP combat. He also said that PvP players should be able to take their gear into high level PvE and at least do well. Which I think means that fully upgraded conquest gear will also be Mythic raid ilvl, but won’t be optimized with PvE stats and you’ll be missing what he refers to as “caltrop” items.

I think it’s logical to assume there will be a power progression between both PvE and PvP ilvl of honor and conquest gear. I doubt they’d make honor gear PvE base level better than LFR, but also I bet it would track at the same rate so that you wouldn’t be extremely undergeared in new content with base honor gear. Similarly I sincerely doubt base conquest PvE ilvl starts at heroic raid ilvl.

So (massive assumption) if honor gear PvE ilvl starts below M0/LFR (heroic dungeon) and ends around there, it would likely mean conquest probably starts at normal raid and scales up to mythic. Which is pretty close to the same as it is now.

Just my best guess, but yeah you’ll need some rating for your conquest gear to perform well in wPvE/wPvP.

Bummer. World pvp has been the only enjoyable form of pvp for a while to me. Arena right now is just not very enjoyable, in my opinion… Randoms can be ok, but unfortunately one side just gets clapped most of the time.

Not too fussed about wPvE.
It’ll be a shame if wPvP excluded casuals/unrated folk. There’ll be no incentive to have WM on (well, as much incentive as there is for unrated folk queuing BG’s in SL).
