Since 10.1 my character is automatically put in autorun mode and I have to reclick on my move forward key for it to stop.
To be more precise :
I use double mouse click to run forward : move forward button 4 to move + move & steer right click to direct. Until this morning it was working fine but now I have this behavior:
Button 4 only : moves normally (straight ahead) when pressed, stops when released
Button 4 + right click : moves in the wanted direction when pressed, keeps moving in autorun when released, only stops when I press & release again button 4 only
I did check my keybinds, for some reason Move & Steer appears Not Bound and I can’t make it appear bound despite several tries, but seems it’s actually bound based on behavior in game.
I’ve read somewhere Button 4 is the default for Autorun so I rechecked and it’s not bound (Button 4 is bound to Move forward).
After further testing, I found out that if instead of pressing and releasing Button 4 (move forward) and Right Click (move and steer) at the same time, if I
press Right Click (move and steer) slightly before Button 4 (move forward)
release Button 4 (move forward) slightly before Right Click (move and steer)
the issue doesn’t happen, I am not stuck in Autorun.
So basically, pressing Right Click (move and steer) while I start running / while I’m already running is what triggers the autorun. Hope that’s actually a bug and not a feature and it’s going to be fixed soon, because it’s unplayable for me as is (as for many players who reacted on the topics mentioned above)
I have a smilar issue, where my character all of the sudden starts to walk backwards. Then i have to restart the game and after 5 min in game it starts again.
Exactly the same happened to me. I use mouse b4 and b5 for movement, and if I click right mouse button at the same time, i will start autorun or even worse auto walking backwards.
I was supposed to raid on Wednesday but had to give up, and i cant even quest, since i cant crontrol my character. So I am not gonna play again until this is fixed
I have bug rapported this, if enough people rapport, hopefully this totally game breaking issue will be fixed.
Hey, there ! Thanks for your feedback however you mentioned that the issue on strafing is being investigated - it’s not only strafing, in my case the autorun is happening on basic move forward.
I understand there are workarounds but changing a configuration you’ve been using for many many years is hard and kills all the pleasure playing is supposed to bring.
Have you tried the work around if it is possible for you to do so?
Depending on what computer mouse you got there might be a solution to this.
If you got a mouse where you can program keys like a corsair, razer or other brand that has software to program mouse, you can go in and change keybinds.
Rebind your mouse button 4 and 5 (side buttons) to another key like left and right arrow and then go into wow and bind the skill you had on button 4 and 5 to the left and right arrow.
The conflict seems to solve it by doing this. You could make a second profile to use when playing wow so you can use button 4 and 5 out of the game when you do other things as normal.
If you do not know how to do this, I am sure there are plenty of people here on the forum that will happily help you.
Did you unbind button 4 and 5 in the game?
In the external software, you bind button 4 and 5 to arrow keys.
In the game, you bind ONLY arrow keys to actions.
That’s what worked for me.
Sounds like ‘mouse up’ actions are not registering or are not unique so holding mouse button 4 and releasing mouse button 2 is causing weird interactions. i.e. perma autorun and camera move getting stuck on.
is there any update on this issue? I’ve changed left and right arrow to strafe and bound them to my mouse buttons as a temporary workaround, but there is a really frustrating input lag and weird performance issues with my Logitech G502 despite drivers being fully up to date etc. I really hope this is fixed before the season starts
My problem is nothing to do do with strafing, it’s simply autorunning forward. I don’t have a fancy mouse anyway that lets me program buttons. It now takes three mouse clicks to interact with NPCs or objects after autorun and this change is clearly linked to the new patch. I would appreciate some indication that it will be corrected.
