10.1.5 and the addition of Warlock class to other (light-oriented) races

Why would they want to? Doomed to insanity is an awful selling point.

Yeah but have you considered the colour purple.

Plenty of displaced scholars and dissidents seem eager to spend time in Telogrus. They just can’t swell the ranks properly.

They want to be able to use the super void haxx magic where their portals are so super powerful that they’re completely undetectable even though void magic is inherently chaotic and unstable. Also they’re meant to be “corrupting” but actually they don’t do anything bad at all.

:+1: BfA was good writing guys

Alisinya will regard them as she does the Ren’dorei. Ticking timebombs waiting to go wrong and it will be her and others that will have to clean up the fallout.

Blizzard writing… Blizzard writing never changes.

If blizzard were gonna make half a effort. Id say it most defintly could work.

Knowing they wont make thst effort its going to look odd.

If they wanted LFD could gain the fel draenei skins, and the tattoos could have a green as a colour option to rly fit the RP.

It won’t really. You’ll see a bunch of them when they launch and then very few. RPers are used to dealing with far more outlandish concepts from other RPers than this.

I’m of the opinion that a Lightforged would be more willing to become a Warlock than a normal Draenei. They’re soldiers who have been fighting a long war (against demons at that) and have already resorted to body modification in order to be more useful in said war. Such a group would be more willing to resort to any weapon or tactic that can prove useful than the relative civilians of the normal Draenei. Also them being specifically modified to fight Demons would make it easier for arrogance to set in when it comes to their ability to handle demonic energies.

Draenei and Tauren will be the hardest sells of the recent Warlock races for me.

Grimtotem.

I don’t recall Grimtotem alligning with the Horde which is why I find that particular one a hard sell as a playable combination.

Jevan(?) Stormsong leads a number of grimmers that split from the main tribe and joined the Horde. (I think this happened around the time uhhhhhh something something thunder bluff attacked by grimmers)

Really? That’s fair enough, I didn’t know that one. In that case it’s just normie Draenei I have a real issue with then.

Roughly 1/4 of the Grimtotem stayed with the Horde after Magatha’s exodus.

Relevant quote so I don’t get people doubting me. Source: Shattering Novel.

He snorted, then drew back, eyeing the others. “There are some among you who were uneasy with the bloodshed, as Stormsong Grimtotem was. Any of you who wish to come forward and swear loyalty to me, the tauren people, and the Horde, and publicly disassociate yourselves from the stain that spreads whenever the name Grimtotem is mentioned, as Stormsong has done, you will receive a full pardon. The rest of you, go with your so-called matriarch into the wilderness. Share her fate. And pray you never see my face again.”

He waited. For a long moment no one moved. Then a female, clutching the hands of two little ones, stepped forward. She knelt before Baine and bowed her head, her children imitating her.

“Baine Bloodhoof, I had no part in the slaughter of that night but confess that my mate did. I would have my children grow up here, in the safety of this peaceful city, if you will have us.”

A black bull moved toward the female, placing a hand on her shoulder, then kneeling beside her. “For the sake of my mate and children, I present myself to your judgment. I am Tarakor, and it was I who led the attack against you when Stormsong deserted. I have never seen mercy in my life, but I ask it for my innocent children, if not for myself.”

More and more came forward, until fully a quarter of the Grimtotem were kneeling before Baine. He was not so trusting as to think they would not need to be watched. When sharing Magatha’s banishment, shame, and powerlessness was the only other option—for he intended to strip all of them of their ability to fight back, at least temporarily—he imagined many would have a sudden change of heart about their past deeds. But some of them, he also knew, were genuine in their desire. And perhaps others would become so. It was a risk he would have to take, if true healing were to happen.

He took a small, petty pleasure in the look on Magatha’s face as more and more of her so-called loyal Grimtotem abandoned her. He suspected his father would be all right with that.
“Any more?” he asked. When the rest of the Grimtotem stayed where they were, he nodded. “Two dozen Bluffwatchers will escort you to your new home. I cannot honestly say I wish you luck. But your deaths at least will not be on my head.”

They moved toward the lifts. He watched them for a moment. Magatha did not look back.
My words were not idle, Magatha Grimtotem. If I see you again, even though An’she guides me, I will not stay my hand.

Let’s not bring up that guy, after what slands did to the dreadlords who knows what the flying frell that guys deal is. I sure as hell tried my best to forget he existed back in Legion.

Anyway Draenei and especially Lightforged draenei being warlocks is just silly. The word draenei literally means exile, it’s not their species name. Their species is Eredar. A draenei warlock isn’t draenei anymore, they’re man’ari eredar. Man’ari meaning roughly hideous unnatural abomination.

Their culture and society revolves around the Light. Everything terrible that ever happened to the draenei, and a lot of terrible things happened to the draenei, is a result of Fel and Demons. A draenei deciding being a warlock is a good idea is about the biggest, most ludicrous and most insane decision and cultural crime you could commit among draenei.

I’ll admit that Tauren stuff is one of my relative blindspots in terms of lore.

Demonstrably false. Even in AU Draenor those who turned to fel didn’t all become Man’ari Eredar – they became Sargerei. These are faction names. Man’ari are Eredar who transformed into demons and joined the Legion. A Draenei Warlock who allies and identifies with the Draenei culture and hasn’t been turned into a demon is still a Draenei. You’re not getting kicked out for it.

This is literally the Blood and High elf debate all over again because people don’t know what the frick they’re talking about. Just as there are no High elves in the Horde, there are no Man’ari in the Alliance. Man’ari are 1. demons and 2. members of the Legion. Being a warlock doesn’t immediately make you either.

There is also the Bloodtotem Tribe of Highmountain, they might have taken it a step further by openly and fully siding with the Legion and even becoming fel tauren. But it is still a case of tauren becoming warlocks, and worse.

The thing about this is that this doesn’t particularly un-do any already well-established lore. Since the beginning of detailed demon lore in Warcraft, demons have been described as having mostly been alien races that have been so twisted and corrupted by fel magic that they become demonic.

Some of them being cleansed to their original state with Light magic is a far reach, but there’s definitely a basis to go off of.

Lightforged Draenei, however, are introduced in a quest line where the Lightforging ritual is described, in which it is explained that Draenei are infused with the Light to the point that their very being becomes infused with light, hence, Lightforged. Not only that, but if there is any single doubt in the Light, as miniscule as it might be in a group called The Army of the Light, the aspirant going through this trial will die.

Lightforged Warlocks doing demonic magic is pretty non-sensical. It’s not even that the explanation given is a little weird and half-baked; it’s that there is no explanation to speak of, and there likely won’t be any, since Warlocks in Warcraft aren’t so related to pacts with all kinds of magical patrons like in other RPG settings, and more intrinsically related to demonology and void magic.

This, however? Yeah. That’s more or less an accurate representation of what most societies in Azeroth see demonology like. Chances are that it’s probably a good idea not to wear a ‘I love casting fel magic’ pin on your vest; but not because that would mean that your character would need to be a part of the Burning Legion to do that.

Your warlock can even be well-intentioned and hate the Old Gods and the Burning Legion, it’s just that Larry [Stormwind Footman] isn’t going to really care about how much you claim that your felhound named Princess is very friendly and doesn’t bite.

Fixed that for you.

Evidently it’s not anywhere as drastic as that since BFA. It’s yet another retcon, but after Shadowlands I will consider Lightforged Draenei being demoted from Adeptus Custodes status to slightly more bejewelled Draenei a tolerable goofup in comparison.

That and everything I’ve written still applies. Draenei are not infallible no matter how zealous they are or how many times they’ve got bamboozled by demons (see Socrethar, Sargerei, the Lightbound, the gaggles of Draenei we meet to this day as part of whatever doomsday cult that actively want themselves and everyone else dead or enslaved). And for some reason Blizzard decided to make a Lightforged Draenei a quest NPC for the warlock scenario.

They need to add in a major friendly warlock NPC tbh. The Khadgar of demon-dudes who hangs around and is like “hey you wanna go do some quests for this zone storyline?”

Ritssyn is pretty cool but I think he’s doing orc things at the moment. If we’re going for existing WoW characters then I think Jubeka or Zinnin would work.

Not Kanrethad. For two reasons. 1) He shoulda stayed ‘dead’ and bringing him back in Legion was lame. 2) Human male

If we can bring in HS characters, then Rin, the First Disciple, or Tamsin Roame would be great; especially if we get Lich-mode Tamsin.

There was something of the same vein that was teased in the Legion invasions during the namesake expansion’s pre-patch with Helcular, a forsaken necromancer leading the defense of Hillsbrad, who was even voiced and had some cool as hell lines, but that went absolutely nowhere, with him not even being mentioned again; which is kind of a waste, honestly?
