[11.1] Elemental Shaman (PvE) Feedback

Hello,

just wanna give my two cents. :slight_smile:
(background: only PvE. Mostly at season end I have mythic raid 3-4 bosses down and m+ 3k rio)

positive:

  • “Ascendance” is now a nice heavy CD
  • “Deeply Rooted Elements” is now separate talent
  • Our damage covers now all elements (no fire-only/lightning-only builds anymore)
  • spenders do now damage
  • maelstrom is now important ressource again
  • “Stone Bullwark Totem” is really nice new def
  • “Flash of Lightning” no longer reduces CD
  • “Lava Surge” is now basic
  • ‘easy going’ talents without loosing too much damage
  • ‘expert’ talents for a little bit extra damage when played well
  • “Earthquake” with target/mouse option
  • several non-damage spec talents are now baseline or class talents
  • raidbuff
  • “Earth Shield” now skillable without useless talent
  • many 2-points talents are now 1-point talents
  • mastery is no longer the one and only secondary stat

bigger issues:

  • “Tempest” is no instant. Even if “Lightning Bolt” is buffed with “Stormkeeper”
  • “Tempest” need a target switch for spreading “Lightning Rod”, but that is worse for focus damage (and you have to find the one target with the one flame shock to switch back for “Lava Burst”). (Same with “Elemental Blast”/“Earth Shock”)
  • no easy way to use the big CD of the “Primal Elementalist” elementals
  • As “Flame Shock” does nothing by iteself, it is horrible to use it
    —> you need one to trigger “Lava Surge”, but “Flame Shock” has only 18 seconds duration
    —> you need it for “Lava Burst” extra damage, but when you switch to another target it needs 6 seconds till you can cast another one
    —> you need it for “Primordial Wave”, but on normal way/pull you have only 1-2 “Flame Shock” up
    —> You need it for “Splintered Elements”, but on normal way/pull you have only 1-2 “Flame Shock” up
    —> the spreading tool “Liquid Magma Totem” is a cap stone talent, has 30 seconds CD (but fits with “Primordial Wave” CD, so it is okay), spread only up to 3 (mostly the fast dying enemies or refreshing old ones or nothing) and does nearly nothing else (it is no “big CD” as a capstone talent should be)
    —> and even with “Ascendance” you can only have six parallel for “Primordial Wave”.
    (—> but you can make it even worse with “Erupting Lava”, reducing the short duration further more because of “consumes”)
  • Farseer forces you to use “Nature’s Swiftness” on CD instead for moving
  • “Primordial Wave” is only nice because of “Splintered Elements”
  • “Stormkeeper” buff holds too short when you suddenly have to handle “Tempest”

minor issues:

  • “Primordial Bond” is only reachable through skilling “Earth Elemental”
    —> “Earth Elemental” dies to fast in m+ when tank is dead (no rezz possible)
    —> “Earth Elemental” annoys every living tank in m+
    —> “Earth Elemental” as def for raid is too less with a too long CD (and no AoE is 60 seconds long)
    —> With “Primal Elementalist” you possible kill your “Storm Elemental”
  • “Totem Recall” CD is too long for the few totems left that have 1-2min CD. (the totems with shorter CD profit more from “Totemic Surge”).
  • even with “Refreshing Waters” you cannot survive AoE without a healer
  • there is no easy visible timer for “Primal Elementalist” elementals
  • loosing maelstrom starts too fast when not casting (bug: even infight)
  • “Thunderstrike Ward” needs a shield to wear
  • “Flamentongue Weapon” doesn’t stack with weapon oil
  • “Storm Frenzy” doesn’t reduce CD to instant (important for moving. Even 0,1 sec cast time is too long)
  • Spells have flying time
    —> “Lava Burst” arrives when “Flame Shock” just dropped
    —> After casting “Flame Shock” you cannot immediately send “Primordial Wave”
    —> “Aftershock” procs after you already start to cast a filler (wasted maestrom)
  • “Frost Shock” has to be skilled in class tree to have a benefit from spec talent “Icefury”
  • As “Healing Stream Totem” doesn’t heal anymore, even with “Elemental Resistance” it is too weak for two talent points (one(!) random(!) person gets 6% damage reduction for 3 seconds)
  • During “Ghost Wolf” you can do nothing (self healing would make sense)

This is my view and fealing and shouldn’t represent other opinions.
