11.2 Gear Catch Up

Hello, I’m wondering if theres any proper catch up gear for this patch for alts, I skipped the intro quests to Karesh as I wanted to get to the cloak as fast as possible for my alts, however I thought there would be quests that reward gear, which seems like its not the case.

Nightfall and the theater give very few pieces per week and are not warbound
World quests are very it or miss with most not giving any armor/weapon reward
Normal dungeon ilvl is 639, HC being 652 to even enter it

Is there something I’m missing catch up wise ?

The only “decent” catch up gear aka 642 is on the AH but at absurd prices

Thank you !

Catch up usually comes in minor patches between seasons. At the moment the patch is new, the item level jump is new and the content is meant to be played. So to reach certain ilvl tresholds to enter dungeons and raids you need to play through the content, if you want to jump into it right away.

I am talking about catch up to get into current tier, you cant “go through the content” as HC requires 651 to even get into and normals drop 639. My alt is stuck with ilvl 630 pvp gear and unable to get literally anything else aside from 639 which doesnt help at all to do HC and is also non upgradable

Shouldnt skip the quest if your Alts are low geared

God forbid you actually Play the game instead automaticly jump into hc dungeons.

If you are good player just skip hcs and get stright into m0 by making your own group

I would love to play the game if the 639 was upgradable I gladly would do it, or is that not playing the game to you ?

And doing +0 with 630-635 especially as tank seems kinda meh

The campaign gives 642 upgradable gear. That is the catch up.

The same campaign I skipped on alts to get to the cloak faster hoping to queue HC but I couldnt thanks to the amazing ilvl 651 requirement

That’s the one. You’ll have to farm nightfall dailies and upgrade along with the two open world chests that give vet gear. Or spam delves.

You skipped the catch-up.

Anyway how are your chars this low? I did 0 group content last season and my chars ended in 670s.

The Nightfall event and Daily quests gives this seasons gear.

With a Veteran piece from the Weekly, and possible from the Epic chest during the event.

The radiant currency lets you buy blue gear, and the dailies give you Green BOEs, with a few more BOEs dropping throughout.

Horrific Visions too, and do not EVER waste Crests on upgrades; 30 Weathered buys you a 675 of your choice through crafting.

campaign quests being the catchup is rediculous
there I said it
you do that on your main then skip it on your alts, your main does not need the catchup but he’s the one receiving it

HC Dungeons are supposed to be entry level for the level cap, normal is for leveling / replacing leveling gear, but if that ilvl is too low to hc and players are expected to grind slop for catchup, I can see them just staying away instead

this thread and its answers make me not want to touch my alts, I doubt thats intended design by blizzard.

The most logical option is to make the ilvl reward (unupgraded) for normal dungeons the entry level for hc dungeons, wether thats buffing normal dungeon rewards or nerfing hc entry doesn’t really matter

Nice tip for alts.

but, unless you need the gear to get into M0s this week. I would wait for the vault next week to then fill in the gaps before Raid/keys.

Shouldn’t have done that, honestly.
Slow and steady wins the race, is the old saying.

Visions Veteran weapon can be upgraded to 691.

THe replies in this thread are so frustrating god forbid you ask a reasonable question here. Everyone and their dog coming out the woodwork to tell you how much better they are at a videogame than you “my alts got gear just by breathing!”

Anyway, you should do the weekly quests, heroics for 665 gear and then M0.

I took a 620 alt into S3, skipped the quest, and am now 671.

Do the Nightfall event in Hallowfall. Not just for the veteran weekly, it gives you an adventurer piece every hour, plus the one token you can buy a specific piece with. This doesn’t sound like much but if the character is very low, it mounts up fast.

The 6x weekly quests from Nightfall are also awarding explorer pieces; this will help fill in the gaps from skipping the intro.

Watch for world quests with gear, they’ll probably be adventurer too (edit, nope, explorer, and today’s is a… cloak. GG Blizz.)

Craft! Do anything that gets the weathered crests. Don’t blow them at the upgrade guy, spend them on crafting with enchanted weathered crests (the vendor is next to the work order lady in Dornogal). I ended up with enough crests for 4x 675 items of my choice. Again, sounds like nothing but when starting at 620 that was huge.

By ~660 you’re not terrible for m0, although it would be sensible to go in with friends and at least some of you should be higher for a good time.

The most annoying part was waiting around for Nightfall, but I never actually did heroic dungeons at all. If I’d hopped in there as soon as possible, I’d have shaved some overall time off. But then, I was running between my work-from-home desk and my gaming pc every hour so this was better :joy_cat:

The adventurer item is at 1/8?

2/8 i think. Can be upgraded to 678 so worth it if your alt is undergeared from S2.
