You are correct, the sub price has remained steady for many years, I just wish people would stop thinking of Blizzard being a benevolent institution, they are not, they are a profit driven business just like all the other MMO’s out there.
The reason the subscription has remained steady is they have increased the cash shop, plus they still have the in game service costs for things like realm transfers/faction changes etc. But I would think the main reason is they need to not charge more than the average cost of a subscription offered by their competitors.
Its what Ive read too that the sub has stayed pretty much the same 
That is not for you to decide, what value those mounts have fopr one among the other 100s they own.
Longer sub periods always come with discounts, everywhere. That’s not a Blizzard invention.
It’s not even a reasonable discount, it’s just some nice numbers “tricking” people into a longer sub period, hence better numbers for their investors. That’s the sole reason such sub periods exist.
It does come in handy for us, though, as there are people who prefer to work with annual payments. Some can calculate better with their money when having everything on annual pasyments, others prefer to pay monthly to keep track of what they have left over.
This “saving” part is pretty…yeah…let’s be real here: No one will put these 2€/month aside when purchasing annual subscription, that money will be gone while shopping.
Neither would people put these 2€/month asise if monthly fees would go down by 2€.
There are so awful many things that cost us all way too much money per month than these neglible discounts would benefit anyone. It’s just marketing.
So: The only two incentives there are for everybody are: The mounts and/or the option for annual payment.
Nothing more to it, just that. Personal preference.
