I was expecting a lot of things, but definitely not this.
“Developers’ notes: We’re reducing the scaling of Devourer’s Mastery: Monster Within to help other stats compete and compensating with an overall ability damage buff. Between that and a few more targeted changes, we expect damage during Void Metamorphosis to be slightly reduced while damage outside of Metamorphosis is significantly increased.”
Is anyone actually excited about playing outside of Metamorphosis? About spamming Consume, which is getting a 60% damage increase?
To me, Metamorphosis now feels more like a punishment than a power window. We already had to deal with being rooted in place and with the many ways Collapsing Star could be interrupted or wasted, but at least you knew that during those moments you were incredibly strong.
Now, on top of all that, we get: “Bonus damage during Void Metamorphosis reduced by 66%.”
What did we ever do to deserve this, Blizzard?
I genuinely don’t understand the design philosophy behind these changes.
As much as I dislike Devourer. Blizz is being typical blizz. They add a class/spec, make it overpowered, and then drop it into the dumpster.
Step ur game up, devs, it’s not that hard to at least keep it viable.
The devs just shot in the head with these changes.
They are trying to flatten the damage profile between Meta and devouer base rotation, completely ignoring the fact that we have zero other burst cooldowns. Devourer is fundamentally a ramp spec: we do low damage while building up souls, and then rely on doing 2x or 3x the damage during Meta just to catch up to other classes on the meters.
With these mastery and Void Meta nerfs, our burst is severely gutted. Plus, unlike other classes that can just press a button for on-demand burst whenever they need it, our burst is entirely dependent on soul generation. We don’t even have full control over our burst timing, and now it won’t even hit hard.
