If they are clever enough, they should also give active players a boost as-well in order to give players a new reason to stay online, which is an alt with a boost. This move is a double edged sword because it means simply Blizzard punishing its active-loyal players for their supportive attitude.
Equally rewarding both sides (actives and inactives) would make everyone happy and would be a good PR move for Blizzard and I believe they are extremely in need of that reputation.
You Blizzard, need to stop being greedy all the time and act generous sometimes. Actually I would trade my Deathwing mount right with a 100LvL boost gladly.

I could use a lvl 100 character boost, but I’d rather cut my d*ck off than buy a boost from their store.
The lowest of the lowest scum moves is to give stuff like this to ppl who don’t even play, and a middle finger to playing and paying people.
But guess what, when these people turn around and show blizzard the middle finger, it’s gonna hurt their (blizzard’s) wallets.

This business practice that companies are using these days is so frustrating. Yes i understand you want to entice players/customers back etc. But all it does is create ill-feeling in your current customer base. The ones consistently supporting your products get no reward for staying loyal.

Sadly like said even utilities do this people who switch every year back and forth get cheaper deals than you who says: “Hey my ISP never/hardly is ever faulty, I’m staying here”.
But yes when discovered somebody got a massive advantage it rarely ends welll and existing customers call angry. Like this thread, 3 free play days? NP. Free boost? About that…

It’s called running a business.
If you have a subscribed customer why would you offer them a discount?
If you have a former customer that is no longer giving you money, offer them something that might get them to start paying you money again.
The Big B is a business, its sole purpose is to make as much profit as it can, so the investors get the maximum return
It is not a charity that’s there to provide you with gaming fun and rewards and make the minimum return to keep players happy.
I don’t quite understand why you would be shocked that a promotion would go out offering something to former customers in an attempt to get them back
And turning them back to current customers, why would they offer the same to paying customers?, if you are paying then you must be happy with what you have already and if you are not and unsub then at some point they will offer you the same promotion.
Because it builds customer trust and good feeling between the business and its customers. If you are treating your customer base well giving them no reason to leave in the first place then you wpuldnt have to try to offer incentives to get them back they would still be here.
Theres a tonne of hype around WoW at the moment with 8.2 being pretty good and classic releasing shortly. Why not build on that and give everyone the 100 boost and really build back some blizzard love again which lets be fair theyve lost a lot of this past year.

We do understand… But it’s not how you should act, give your retruning customer year after year it then aswell. Not only the one who jumps provider on a yearly basis. Int he end that 2nd person is cheaper and gets more presents than the reguluar customer does. It’s why I love physical stores. They give small discounts or extra gifts when you start showing up more and more. Not when you step in for the 1st time.
Aside from them knowing you, most evidently restaurants, snacksbars, weekly markets etc. “The usual but this time with x”. These are the companies that see when you visit every week 1 week you suddenly get a drink free of charge as a thanks for your loyality.

yep… would be pretty useless to me since the only chars i’d want to make would be allied and i’d want the sets too,theres a whole bunch of really useful things they could give…
i know it’s cheap comparing other games but i have to say that for a certain other mmo to give away 3 free race/appearance plus 3 free name change tokens to sub and non sub alike was pretty nice…
but it doesn’t have to be hugely impressive, just useful…

in fact, in game events are definitely the way to go…it’s the best way to feel connected to the game and the community…and tbh i am sick to the back teeth of being smothered in shinies and loreless mounts and toys anyway

That’s the thing, i prefer a 100 boost than a mount, because i prefer to level alters than flying around.
Now, with the new patch, it is practically impossible to have an alter due to the essences system and the way to get materials. But hey! It is like Classic! Wohoo?
At least, there will be better options in the future with other games like Borderlands, so maybe they will give me a 100 after my return!

equality of opportunity, not of outcome. this isn’t equal because we’ve been “helping” the game keep going over the years.
This post is just a bunch of people proclaiming to have invested a lot of time into WoW, because presumably they enjoyed it. But then, are complaining because others who have stopped are getting enticed back with a boost, which they may use and play for a week or 2. Ultimatley quitting again because the games still is the same. If this doesn’t cry entilitment, then I don’t know what does.
Playing WoW is a luxury, not a service. If your still playing the game that means your reward is having fun, otherwise why play?

What exactly are the conditions of this Gift?
Because, except for the 3 free days of play last time around (June I think?)most of my WoW Accounts have been dormant since Januar 2018 or so and I haven’t recieved a Gift on either Blizz Account, just a message I can buy a recollored mo7nt for 25€ to celebrate 15 years of WoW.
It would be kinda stupid of them to punish people for resubbing for the Classic Stress Test and character name reservation (like yours truly did last Sunday), one of the objectives of Classic is to rebuild trust with the estranged playerbase and this would seem an odd way to do it.
Then again, with all the World Scaling, CRZ, destruction of the original models and Professions etc. etc. I find myself pretty much only sending Followers away on Garrison Missions for a couple of minutes before logging (go figure) so personally it doesn’t greatly affect me.
Havent played since spring, where is my boost? meh
Aaaaand Blizzard goes balls deep on its few active subs yet again xD
