17th Anniversary Drops Hotfixed

Wait, first it’s whales, now it is ‘Hardcore whales’? Are they like…Orca or something? I mean they are pretty hardcore. If I had a choice between being a Blue Whale and an Orca, I’d totally go with being an Orca, that would be amazing…

Have we…is there a new …is that what they mean by ‘Oceanic’?

Why have Blizz not contacted SETI and told them they have found a second sentient and sapient species on the planet…That’s mad! Now would be the time to do this. How do they…operate Computer’s under the sea?

Or is ‘whales’ just a term used by sad eyed muppets who can’t accept the fact that people like different things?

Nah, couldn’t be that, could it? That would be madness…

they always bend to the people who cry and moan… you should expect this kind of spoon fed approach by now.

We all kind of know that isn’t true, don’t we. “How dare they give an anniversary mount to people, it’s not like they did it…before, and it was fine because -I- got it, and well that’s not fair! I wanted to look cooler than people because of a dice roll and through no individual skill of my own!”

The ironic thing being, those that cry and moan the most these days, are the ones who cry and moan saying that other people cry and moan.

It’d be funny if it wasn’t so tragically indicative of the modern day youth with their ‘Anti-woke’ hysteria.

Next thing it is all a Communist plot because everyone gets it, right?

i dunno if i fall into that honestly but you arent wrong in most cases, i’m mainly just tired of how bending to people who want things easier and faster leads to a more boring and linier end product for everyone.

at the same time however… i do not say things like RnG is the solution to that…

there is bads on both sides… and blizzard picks all of them lol.

To clarify, I most definitely was not specifying anyone in particular. Things should be achieved, not given, yes, definitely, but reducing it to a dice roll doesn’t give bragging rights, if you see what I mean?

they are becoming very sneaky. it is actually somewhat concerning.

Bloke in a pub told me that the other day, bald head, odd fella, he always shouted at dogs. He had a hammer in front of him on the bar, I thought “That looks unchancy, I thought you weren’t allowed to bring tools into the bar even if they are the ‘means of production’”, then I saw he had a rip in his pocket and a bit of a shiv was sticking out, except it weren’t a shiv, he had a sickle in his other pocket. I weren’t having none of it. It were me, I did it…he’s buried under some carpet in Finsbury Park…

I think it was cool to have it be 1% or 2% drop chance. I dont mind it being 100% but just have it be from start instead imo

yeah fair point, what is special about a dice roll after all.

equally 100% removes all incentives to even bother though…

yay a mount everyone else has which will be forgotten when the next 100% mount is released…

it feels like to me that blizzard rely on mounts far too much to keep player happy… it is all this game has going for it at this point.

What I can’t understand is why people can’t tell the difference between an anniversary celebration event and a normal drop from a content patch dungeon or raid.

I’m not at all saying they should change the 1% droprate that is standard for mounts that drop from raid bosses. Nor am I even against limited time acquisitions like the moose mount from Legion.

On top of all this the only stumbling block is RNG, because the fight itself is so instant and so easy. It is basically giving things away, and there’s a game-design disconnect and also a disconnect with the nature of the event (as I have already said), to have the mount be a 1% where some have it ‘gifted to them’, while others kill it 74 times and not get it (as in my case).

I’ve farmed MANY old raid and dungeon mounts. I ran Strat almost non-stop for 3 days and all together over 300 times to get that undead horse, and I don’t feel any need to say they should up the drop-chance. You have to put the effort in to clear usually the whole raid, or most of it.

Fortunately it seems the developers understood this also.

… and no this change won’t make me resub when it expires in about 5 days, as there isn’t anything like enough content I enjoy to keep me playing this expansion

Got Ashes anyway, the only flying mount i use - but yeah, i’d pay 150g for that [redacted] flying horse from ICC. Currently going for other rare mounts and having no joy

It’s a pretty safe bet that people always want a mount. Not everyone ofc but it’s a popular aspect in WoW.

The year that they did a Horde/Alliance airship mount for BlizzCon they sold loads of Virtual Tickets.
