So I decided to give it a shot. I knew that you can do the quest 3x 6 floors, but then I got a group who wanted to do the whole stuff. In the end we reached at level18 and failed because one of the dudes rushed and then left us. Then I did first 6 floors again, and now that the quest is done, here’s my opinion.
The first 12 floors are a breeze. I’ve seen many posters here complaining that they can’t do the quest and won’t do it, because they can’t stand Torghast. Judging from my experience, the quest itself isn’t a problem. If you have got a decent group via the finder or guild, you can complete it in no time. It took me less than an hour. One 6-wing portion is completed for 10-15 minutes. You need 3x6.
The real problem is what happens beyond level 12. Group mates told me it gets harder. Well… it doesn’t get harder. It feels like artificially buffed to keep us slow. And this is my problem with Torghast and my problem with everything in Shadowlands. It’s made to waste my time.
And this is the huge issue I am facing with modern WoW. As a gamer, I love sucking my time into the games I enjoy. But I really hate when a game turns into an obvious time suck.
The question is … why am I even doing this? My main toon is Horde. From a lore perspective, why do I need to waste 18 floors to collect lost items of Anduin? It’s not an adventure to save Anduin. And why should I even care about Anduin? I already saved those I came for - Baine and Thrall. Oh well… as a player I have to do the quest so I can unlock ANOTHER cinematics about Sylvanas and her redemption arc. A predictable story. But then, I have to wait ANOTHER week for a follow-up.
Maybe there’s some reward in the end? Oh, there is… a Maw Mount. But in order to get it, I have to do 8 times x 18 floors. Really? There’s no doubt some people will do it, but aside of that, Torghast continues to be horribly unrewarding.
To me Torghast works fine… if you do it once or twice… Aside of that, putting it into the spotlight, I see no Purpose.
I don’t know why you’d expect it to be the other way around.
It’s the new mode, the longer mode, being more difficult is kind of implied just on that basis alone.
By that you mean horribly unrewarding… unless you put in effort.
babies just wanting stuff handed to them these days.
I guess you didn’t read my post. By what means is doing Torghast being an effort? Once you hit 12-th floor on the newest wing, it doesn’t require more skills or thinking. The mobs are a little more overtuned, and that’s that. Okay, maybe you need to interrupt the spells.
Everything revolves around wasting my time. So if I do get the Maw mount, it won’t be that much due to skills or grouping, but rather to perseverance and yawning in front of the screen while waiting to finish it.
Well it can also be idiotic effort. For example, my attempt to get Headless Horseman mount, and doing it for 6+ years on 10+ alts before finally dropping. I am kinda proud of my persistence to have RNG on my side, but still an idiotic effort.
My whole feel for Shadowland. I just stand there in a middle of the week and and thing. Why Am I doing this all over again? I did this quest ten times already on previous week and I finished all my choirs on other activities. Why this expansion just wasting my time with no content in it. I still don’t have a clue where sylvana is (yeah she is in Torghast I saw here, and how she didn’t saw me I just don’t understand). But what she do? What is the story? Is Thrall died? Oh no here he is. “the torture is over” what? Were you in danger at all? What is the point of what I’m doing? Why it’s so slow paced and timegated?
This is the worst expansion I played so far. At least I started to go into PvP more.
… or people want their to see their time investment being rewarded with enjoyment. A challenge can be fun, but the challenge in Torghast is keeping your eyes open and not boring yourself to death.
Torghast on live is not as enjoyable as it looked on streams, you know… the version of Torghast that every single person playing it was lauding Blizzard for making the most enjoyable content in the game since forever.
Look how that sentiment has completely disappeared and only people that like S&M are enjoying this content.
Well, at least you literally only need to clear all layers once and then you can ignore Twisting Corridors. All the rewards and achievements are account-wide. Even the layer unlocks are account-wide.
I believe the majority of players would rather have a challenge that takes twice as long but is incredibly fun, than something that takes half of that time and is bland and dreading even when both reward you the exact same thing.
