1h or 2h weapons?

I have been testing Titans grip and Single-minded fury. All weapons at ilvl 125.
Titans grip is a little better atm by 2-3%
But the most interesting thing was that using a 2h in main and 1h in off wasn’t far off from two 1h, basicly margin of error.
So it seems if you are using two 1h and get a 2h that is higher ilvl it’s better to just equip that 2h in main-hand with 1h in offhand until you get matching weapons instead of waiting for another 2h.

Edit: Tried 1h in main and 2h in off and it didnt seem to change anything either.
So currently atleast just use your highest ilvl strength weapons.

That 2-3% now, minus the passives from either “Titans Grip” or “Single Minded Fury” will only grow as we get into Shadowlands and iLvL increases as SMF gives a flat 12% buff and with TG the secondary stats will be high enough to compete with SMF… or Vice versa.

Having one 1-hander will minus your stats of one of the 2-handed weapons if dual wielded and having one 2-hander will break the rule of SMF’s passive ability where it states you must dual wield a pair of 1-handed weapons.

The smart thing to do, sadly is grind both out early on, and then IF there is a clear discrepancy to damage output potential between SMF or TG in the content you are doing - only make a point of chasing that weapon type.

Yeah when we get into shadowlands its most likely gonna change since our azerite and essences wont work iirc.
But for people who leveled and are gearing a warrior in prepatch high ilvl weapons seem to be more important than meeting the requirements for SMF or the bonus stats from titans grip.
This might be because weapon dps is far more valuable than stats, but then two 2h should be way better since even at lower ilvl 2h have more dps than a higher ilvl 1h.
I’m not sure why, but I’m gonna do some testing where I remove azerite, essence and trinkets to reduce their impact and see if that changes the results.

Edit:
Did some more testing on target dummy for 5min where I removed Head, Shoulder, Neck and both Trinkets.(forgot to remove chest but without the neck the azerite traits dont do anything anyway)
TG = 1066
SMF =1026
2hMH & 1hOH=980
1hMH & 2hOH=951
So after this testing I can now see that when we get into shadowlands and lose our borrowed power TG and SMF is gonna matter more.
I still dont know if it might be worth it if you get big upgrade since my weapons are all 125 ilvl. The difference now between having TG/SMF or not seem to be around 10%, if you have Azerite and essences on the difference is only around 3% though.
If I can find some lower ilvl weapons I’m gonna test that too.

Update: Finally got around to getting some lower ilvl weapons.
I tried two ilvl81 2h weapons and then one 1h ilvl99 and one 2h ilvl81.
The dps is the same over a 5min fight.
My tests were done without the heart of azeroth so no azerite traits or essences.
