Just back from playing it on target dummy.
It doesn’t have ANY of the complexity it used to have. It’s easier than retail retri pala. Maybe even too easy!
Good things:
I LOVE voltaic blaze. It works exactly how i would like shocks to work. Moderate instant damage on moderate cooldown, no bulls.
Ascendance: Feels exactly like on live (very good) and you don’t have to press 3 more cooldowns with it. It also is awesome.
Bad things:
We have no control over tempest anymore. Also it feels impossible to cast 2 tempest in a row now. That could suck for pvp.
With wolves gone (i never liked spending gcd for it), we lost only “passive” maelstrom source. When we are kited, we have 4-5 globals to dish out some damage on retail. Not the case for beta.
Solution? Let maelstrom weapon to build up to 20 stacks (not kidding) and make voltaic blaze give you a tempest every 45 seconds! Would be an awesome addition of control. No burst other than ascendance atm.
At retail, enhance can “keep” a mini burst at bay. Please let us do this in midnight. If not, rotation will feel dull like a “story char’s abilities” very quickly.
I begged for this for years. It actually happened way deeper than i thought.

Yep, one of my concenrs since tww, that enha literally lowest in pvp. Low survi, 0-24 kite by ranged.

I played some other classes too (against target dummies).
It seems everyone retained their “feeling” despite the gutting. But enhancement got effected on the side i complained the most. We lost our agency at range.
On retail, enhancement got things to do when we can’t stay on target during “run aways” in dungeons or kited in pvp. We don’t have that in midnight.
Having 10stack of msw was for retaining 2 casts in our pocket. And to protect us from going over the cap in pve (which was very important to me). However Overflowing maelstrom (spending 10msw at once) was maybe for burst damage at first. Now it hits a little more than stormstrike. It’s not bursty at all. So making msw stack to 20 is very important for spec rotation’s soul imo. Enhancement shouldn’t be like a warrior at range, with different colored icons on bars. Because numbers sure aren’t. Let us cast more!
1 small dream: Maybe let msw stack to 50, let us cast 10lbs when we loose range? It wouldn’t change sustained damage 1 bit. And it sure doesn’t hit like chaos bolt. So it wouldnt be very bursty anyway. At least 5lbs maybe? 3?
Also, %2 chance for tempest maybe fine for pve numbers. However, knowing when will tempest will occur was a very good thing for playing enhancement. Both in pve and pvp. You guys will HAVE TO update msw UI. While doing that, you could add another visual like “awakening storm” bar underneath msw, -filling up awakening storm as you keep spending msw stacks- to warn us for incoming tempest. Also maybe more often 2nd cast of tempest? By making it on a timer with voltaic blaze? Every 1 min voltaic blaze procs tempest? Maybe that could have a timer bar too? Both these bars works like energy so we start with 2 instant tempest at start of fight? Would be awesome to play. This doesnt require weak aura. We can have bars? Remove mana and add these two. I mean, enhancement should be controlling a lit bit of the storm right? Not basicly chance on hit right?
Just saying, this is a spectrum. I know this is extreme but it’s a way:p (we should be keeping tempest -bursty- during this i know. So just remove the chance on hit side. 
)

yea, I like the enhance changes. Its a big improvemnet on the current version. THAT SAID, it feels silly to complain but the talent tree feels a little bit too simple. It doesn’t add any variation to the gameplay any more. I think in the short term its going to feel great but may get stale as the patches go on. Shaman as a whole i want to see more stuff from totems especially fire. its nice that the utility is sharing nodes but maybe we could get liquid magam or something simmilar sharing a slow with sundering. Maybe something on the lightning side of the tree as well.
