Arthas was a dk.
Frostmourne was a two handed sword.
Arthas used frostmourne.
Frostmourne is clearly a 1-handed as shown by everything he does with it, including it’s like 90% use as a 1-hander in WC3 it is quite clear he only uses his second hand for additional leverage for big attacks.
a long term mistake on the developers part that one.
Saying it’s a one handed weapon because he wields it with one hand doesn’t make much sense. See titan’s grip on warriors.
death knights don’t have titans grip tho.
This is why the reforged frostmournes were created as one-handers, to correct the mistake they made in the past.
Doesn’t detract from my argument.
Not really, they did it to make frost different from unholy
untrue, they did it, because the new lich king will be a dual wielder, and as bolvar is not a dual wielder, it is clear we will get a new, new lich king.
and thus by this it is clear that the new lich king will be none other than… varian wrynn, yes, varian wrynn, through the power of nzoth as it will turn out that when he landed in the water at the start of legion he was clearly abducted and replaced with a copy so that nzoths nefarious plans could be set into motion to crown a true dual wielding lich king…
WC3 DKs didn’t dual-wield either.

Ok I will bite the bait and enter this stupid war of DW vs 2H. First of all frostmourne is a long-sword.
A long-sword in case you people don’t know, is a sword that can be used by either 1 or 2 hands. It has no prerequisite to be wielded only by 2 hands, so it is not a 2handed weapon, it was a versatile tool, weighted in such a way so it could fit both 2handed wielding combat and sword and board combat.
Greatswords are strictly 2handed weapons because they are huge and heavy making them unwieldy by just 1 hand.
Also for some reason people tend to think, oh I wear plate armor I should be using a Greatsword. Go check real life knights in full plate, and you will get really disappointed. Most platewearers in history used 1handed weapons.
The reasoning behind the frost DK becoming a DWing spec was the theme of an unstoppable avalanche that never stops. Relentless and never ending chain of attacks raining upon the enemy just like an ice storm raging.
Im not at all against 2h weapons and 2h Frost coming back, but for the love of the LK get your facts straight and don’t hate on DW just because it doesn’t suit YOUR personal aesthetic.
This is so demential that It could be posted on Mmo champion as “leak” by the “1 post forum users”
so it is not a 2handed weapon
Its description lists it as a two handed weapon though.

That argument makes no sense. Warriors can wield two two-handed weapons and fight efficiently. Something you couldn’t really do in real life. WoW is not about emulating realism.

What is the point of this rant? Nobody in this thread was hating on dw frost. I was arguing why two handed dk’s make sense lorewise, not specifically talking about frost until it was brought up.
The fact that it is described as a 2handed sword it doesn’t make it so in reality, especially when we have a crystal clear image of the weapon from various canon sources which leads every single characteristic of it to fit into the typical long-sword category.
Length and size of both the blade and the grip matters when you are to categorize a sword and any weapon for that matter, that’s why categories exist in the first place.
I could tell you my character is a Tauren but all his characteristics clearly point towards a Troll.
The only reason Frostmourne is described as a 2handed weapon it is because there is no intermediate category in WoW and Blizzard chose to go with the more flashy big category.
The reason a certain spec of the Warrior can fight with two 2handed weapons with an ability called TITAN GRIP, is exactly because it is extraordinary by realistic standards. You need inhuman strength to do so, thus makes a good idea for a fantasy world.
My point on this particular quote is clear but I will repeat it again since you probably misinterpreted it.
For some reason people think that Big Armor = Big Weapons, while any correlation between the two is inaccurate.
A game is based on reality at first and then it breaks the rules of reality to create fantasy and push the boundaries of unreal.
Thus people have to accept the fact that you will have all shorts of characters wielding any combination of weapons and armor and not what you proclaim as “appropriate” in your headcanon.

While this in itself may be true. You have corectly pointed out:
Blizzard chose to go with the more flashy big category.
On could call that proof that blizzard often chooses to go with the theme of big armor + big weapons rather than the more realistic one handed option. Also titans grip is another confirmation of that.
Frost is the only dps plate spec that cannot wield 2h weapons, making it an exception, thereby confirming the theme.
So yes, big armor + big weapons is very much a thing in wow.
But that doesn’t mean frost should be 2h as well.
A game is based on reality at first and then it breaks the rules of reality to create fantasy and push the boundaries of unreal.
I agree, but it don’t see how it helps either side of the argument?

Again, there was no proclamation of headcanon that plate should only wield 2 handed weapons in this thread. Again this contributes nothing to the discussion in this thread. Who are you arguing against?
I’m just expressing my personal opinion about the 2handed, 1handed theme of the DKs. I don’t argue against anyone for that matter.
Have a nice day.
A single longsword could be nice for frost, 1h for frost strike/auto attacks, and 2h animation for obliterate.
To any Humans Frostmourne is 2Handed.
Plus Onehanded Dual Wield sucks.
Bring back 2H frost.
taking this guy’s weak bait… smh
