Turned the in game graphics down

Deleted all addons

Scan and repair wow

Reinstalled

Checked drivers - up to date

Made sure my laptop was using the internal graphics card

Done the entire check list from support

What now ?

I’ve had to stop raiding with the guild completely because nothing has changed - the game is unplayable

Ideas?

Get a better CPU

It’s a brand new laptop that had no issues a few months ago

I can play other mmos on it at full graphics with absolutely no problems

Only when i play cata classic do issues start happening

Do you encounter the same issues when playing retail?

Wtf ? Do you even read , “bro” ? :man_facepalming: You saw 2.20 ghz and somehow you think that’s its best power? 2.2 GHz Base, 5.2 GHz Turbo

Check to see if somehow, on WoW ( or as a whole ) it uses the integrated video card, the Intel UHD Graphics, rather than the RTX 4060.

Dedicated. You need to use the dedicated one, not internal ( I assume you meant integrated ? )

GHz is not the only relevant part of a CPU. Besides the point that he never mentioned the Turbo, which you or may not know and want to use, specs such as cores and L3 cache are as important as GHz for World of Warcraft.
I’m well aware what I wrote, thanks for nothing forum dweller.

he did say it’s a brand new Legion laptop and your advice was to “get better cpu” (for a 15 year old game), he gonna unsolder the i7 and put on an i9?
on top of the fact that Legion laptops are for gaming and should be able to handle anything
blizzard recommends a 4th gen i7 for cata, the cpu of that laptop is 14th gen, so even a 8-9 gen i3 should be more than enough to handle cata
my bet is they broke some kind of hardware specific optimization during an update

did that list mentioned a bios update? it’s a hail Mary but you should be updating regularly anyway for cve fixes

A…yes. Is THE most important part. Wtf ? The higher the GHz, the better. Yes, in gaming.

He didn’t had to :

That’s the only relevant part. Anyone and his mother knows that most (all?) CPU comes with Base and Turbo and that i7-14s is good, no matter what. At least for WoW.

Ok, its clearly that you have no idea about CPU’s  Just…let it be. Go pick up that flower. You missed it in the last session.

No , you are not well aware. You wrote idiotic things.

While its certainly possible to do so, my suggestion is to check CPU benchmarks before buying a Laptop. It’s well known WoW is almost entirely CPU bound. Some people can run wow just on their CPU alone.

Are you sure about that? I couldn’t find Cata specific specs but Retail ones (same client) and the recommended one is 6 Cores, 3.5 GHz processor 8th Generation Intel® which they don’t own.

Very rare but possible

Nope. You clearly have no idea about CPUs. Check CPU benchmarks before claiming to know anything.

Again wrong. First, no, not every CPU has a “turbo”. Even less so HX ones as they are designed to be a microship for laptops. And you also lack serious reading comprehensions. I said

To make it easier for you: NOT EVERYONE OVERCLOCKS THEIR CPU. Let alone they know how to do it. Some manufactures block it by default and you have to change quite a lot of BIOS settings to do so as overclocking can shorten the lifespan of a CPU by quite a lot.

Only thing I realized is that you don’t know anything about CPUs lmao. The best performing CPUs for WoW currently are pretty much all AMD one because of their L3 technology, not because they have more GHz (spoiler: they don’t). It’s well known that Intel cards are struggling with the current WoW client, especially since around Dragonflight.

I wish it was as easy as “ugah boogah GHz more better”

Give me exempels. C’mon. Do a benchmark , GHz vs Cores for exemple. Less Cores - High Ghz vs Low Ghz - High Cores. Yes? Come back with the results. As I said, in games yes?

Here , educate yourself please : https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-takes/what-is-processor-speed - Read the article. I mean, READ it ok? Thanks.

This guy… :man_facepalming:

Most modern CPUs do have Turbo Boost or an equivalent technology that allows them to temporarily increase their frequency (GHz) above the base value when needed.

Exceptions:
Very old processors or some low-power/mobile models might not have turbo.

On some budget laptops or ultrabooks, Turbo Boost may be limited or disabled to save battery or due to poor cooling.

Now gtfo!

You literally have no clue what you are talking about.

Edit: Sorry, I just continue to read your above post and I saw this in particular :

Ok so …  :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Wait …

That’s from the factory you …can’t use bad words here! You are not overclock it.

Now, go back to school and learn the difference between Overclock an TURBO Boost.

Thanks!

you can’t go wrong with a Legion laptop, within reasonable expectations, it’s a laptop after all…even the low end models will not be in an unplayable state like OP’s

https://eu.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-classic-upgrades it’s the minimum specs not the recommended my mistake, still, the laptop cpu is 6 generations ahead of the recommended specs, with 8 cores instead of 6, and anyway even if they had just the minimum specs, it should not stutter under low settings, and he mentioned the laptop works fine with other games, so we can rule out a laptop problem

Use Dedicated ergo the 4060

Make sure you use an older driver for the RTX 4060 , the newer ones are iffy as hell

Yea you lost me around here. No idea why I’m wasting my time with a child. But if you want to do some research, with you really should do because you are embarrassing yourself.
What Is Intel® Turbo Boost Technology? - Intel

[…]
But when more speed is needed, Intel® Turbo Boost Technology dynamically increases the clock rate to compensate. This is sometimes called “algorithmic overclocking”.
[…]

Yeah big difference. Literally their technology.

Also for your example:
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Benchmark > AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX Benchmark even if less GHz

You can enjoy your life but leave me alone, thanks. Toll someone else in the forums, plenty of other hopeless souls around here.

Should is probably the correct word. My response to buy a new CPU was more of a joke answer because a lot of information is lacking to determine what the problem is. Obviously buying a new one or a different one could help.
Blizzards latest updates have been doing a lot of weird performance issues on a lot of intel CPUs for no apparent reason

:))))))))))))))) Dude, really. Just really, shut the bip up! You are so pathetic. Don’t read between lines.

I am sorry, at this stage I must ask : Are you slow minded?

I mean you can see why they both are the same…Multithread Rating. I mean can you really see why ?!? And also, do you need glasses ?

Single Thread Rating 3469 vs Single Thread Rating 3946 . And that is why you see the same score in multithread, because 7845HX is bringing in … guess what? MORE GHZ POWER and less Cores and Threads.

But it seems you are missing one point : IN GAMES ( as I said right at the beginning of this thread ) GHZ matter more!!

You are such an ignorant I wonder, how do you accept yourself?

Was a stupid joke because you though the CPU is the problem ,wa wa wa, low ghz, bad for games when you didn’t had a clue about what that CPU can do.

Back to your cave now …

You officially won the price of the most cringe post in the forums, congratulations, didn’t know someone would reach that in 2025 after 20 years of Wow. Didn’t even bother reading after first two sentences. Next time, if you want to sound somewhat convincing don’t use words such as “dude”, “shut up”, “pathetic”, “slow minded”, “do you need glasses”, “ignorant”, “stupid” and “cave”. This just lets you look like someone that failed in every aspect of life.

Still not, nope, but be my guest wasting your money, just stop wasting others people’s money.

how do you accept yourself not doing that? :joy:

yes solid advice, in general, i always keep the previous driver installer in case they break something, and if i may add, use driver only not their extra software
