Promotional mounts are almost always related to the store.
The Fireplume Phoenix is already a Hearthstone card. It’s like Ashes of A’lar but a updated version of it.
My guess for obtaining these two new Phoenix mounts will be this; They will announce TBC servers at BlizzConline. Now to “celebrate” the announcement of TBC servers they will probably put these two mounts on the store as a bundle for a limited time, along with 30 days of game time & potentially a matching transmog set or a pet to sweeten the deal for anyone not interested in the mounts.
Once TBC officially launches they will remove the bundle from the store. I guess it would be sort of a pre-purchase bonus… but not exactly.
TBC servers are likely to be accessible with no additional charges like the Classic servers, but with a bundle such as this Blizzard will be able to better monetize or to take advantage of all of the hype from a TBC server announcement.
The reason I think this is simply because of the recent 30th Anniversary Blizzard package. The method of obtaining these could be completely different ofc, but this is my best guess right now.
My second (but less likely) guess is they will be new Heroes of the Storm promotional mounts to try and get people to play HoTs again? Like the Primal Flamesaber we got in Legion. But I feel Blizzard isn’t really bothering with that stuff anymore.
16 years, and not a single StarCraft mount or transmog item.
I usually the store, but boy would I be willing to pay for a Baneling mount or a Protoss armor with psi-blades.
If it’s WoW related I’ll get them.
Otherwise I don’t care.
Only things I can even think of are
WoW tournament / charity mounts.
Diablo immortal pre-purchase (might be too early)
And TBC. But I don’t see how they’d ask for money with TBC.
Oh god I hope not, I absolutely hated those games of HotS that I played to get that mount But, even though I’d personally dislike it, it is a nice idea to get people to play Blizzard’s various games.
Still disappointed that they didn’t include something that let you transfer unobtainable skins from classic to release… Especially since the old argument about “you should have been there and done it then” is now moot.
