2 runes on 2 handed weapons

I have seen some places that there is a big issue when it comes to balancing the frost death knight DW and 2H in shadowlands due to the new rune forging being so good in certain potential builds that having a chance to use one extra of them is always better.

Why then just not simply make is like many other games and allow the 2 handed weapons to have 2 enchantments on them, which in this case would only apply to DK’s and rune forging?

As a bonus this would make rune forging seem extremely unique improving the DK fantasy.

And while it might be slightly more complicated to implement than it seems it is not much worse than expanding the current if statement that overwrites enchants on a weapon if you are applying a new one to be slightly more complicated one that includes special cases for if the one applying is a death knight and the enchant is a rune and there is a rune on the weapon and the weapon is 2 handed.

All the 2handed weapons in this game can hold one enchant…
DK’s enchants are already over the top compared to others, you want two of them? :rofl:

Enchantments and Runes are 2 different things that simply hold the same slot on the weapon. Runes are a core part of the class that are considered when balancing it. It is like saying that hunters should not have pets because monks can’t have them.

And Only reason to do it to allow DKs to actually make use of the new rune forging system and help making balancing easier.

Its an enchant coming from runeforging

I dont know how long you played DK, but when 2h and DW was a thing in DK’s the 2hander build was a pvp oriented build while DW was the pve build.

I originally played DK back at the end of mist but only got into it during warlords. But now a lot of frost DKs just want to be able to use the 2H for all content.

And why should the class design be limited to how it was in the past? Is it really fair to hold back progress and innovation simply for the sake of nostalgia?

Yeah i would like it too, i also dont like the DW style. Its nothing compared to the 2h frost but… For pve it was the best spec so… xD

Im not supporting how they did it back then, im reminding you what they did.
I hope they wont do the same thing because already stated i like 2h more!

This was simply meant as an idea to bring it out there. I too love the 2H frost and just hope this will be viable and I will not be forced to play DW, because that will mean that I will spend yet another expansion playing unholy.

If this was the ideology, we applied to everything we would still be using typewriters. Improving things that work but are not ideal is at the core of what drives progress.

Back when i was playing DK i came to a desperate conclusion that FDK is one of the specs blizzard doesnt like, at all.

FDK was the king in lower ilvls then while UH was the king in bigtime gear ilvl.
DW frost is…meh
2h feels like DK but sadly i think they will push 2hander dk’s to pvp only because of their burst, hope im wrong!

We will se. There is a chance that they will try to push the 2H build for all situations as it would make the class more uniform. And class fantasy is all that shadowlands is supposed to be about. It does feel weird that the other 2 specs only use 2H while frost is forced into DW.

Once we talk about dk’s while its out of your context in this tread ill let you know i ditched DK because they took away BoS from all specs but frost.

Blood+BoS was my greatest WoW love and will remain always like it <3

They removed it to make the specs feel “UNIQUE” yet fire and arcane mages have iceblock. So unique.

All trash outside Velhari pulled, Blood+BoS 1m DPS and 1.4M HPS.
Healers and dps tears made my boots wet.

I honestly want this to be solved in a viable way as well, but i see too much stress over it to be honest. Back in WotLK the game had a system where the same rune existed in 2 variants, one for one handed weapons and one for two handed weapons, essentially two one handed Runes of Spellshattering granted the same effect as the single Rune of Spellbreaking. While i get that that this might piss off some people, it actually was not a bad idea imho, and while i wouldnt want to see that exact system implemented again (because if you nerf Razorice and others then ouch), i believe that starting from this basic idea and finding a solution for everyone could have beneficial effects.

It wouldnt work so well. Single 1h weapon from DW would still stack Razor Ice faster than 2H. Also DW would still deal whole lot more white damage. Also when it comes to pushing back cast bar of enemy players DW would be better.

You’re trolling right? We CAN have 2 of our enchants, dual wielders get two as always even the new super ones in Shadowlands? and now you dont want 2 handed to have the same choices? Come on brother

I so miss my dk from WoD :frowning:
Blood dk with tons pf multistrike and BoS,Unholy dk with Necroitc Plague instead of a worse version of combo poitns(wounds)
WoD Dk was my all time favorite class to play and for me legion onwars blood and unholy hace been uttelry ruined :frowning:

Also bonestorm shouldve been mechancily as WoD BoS just aoe around you insteadof cone

That can be fixed as well. .the 2handed version of the razorice runeforge could stack only 3 times but give 5% extra frost dmg, instead 5 stacks x3%.
