2080 ti FPS DROP - GAME NOT PLAYABLE

Hey, im using 2080ti…after the latest nvidia update on Tuesday I have the following problems.

After few second flying my fps goes from 130 to 0, game is unresponsive for few seconds and after it gets back again at 130 fps few seconds later goes back at 0 the same process repeats and game is unplayable.

I have made ticket and got response to try few things like REPAIR GAME, put CACHEOLD WTFOLD etc. Even without any addons i still have the same problem. Running DirectX 11 or 12 had made no difference.

I have found a thread on forums to repair Windows, did it with no result.

I have switch to Nvidia driver before the latest one. NO Result.

I have run some program to see the GPU temp and usage, after opening the game it shows that GPU is working until I login on character after that IS N/A so i assume the game is not running on my GPU or is running for few seconds and after not.

Also i have put from AUTO MODE to 2080 TI and makes no difference.
Version of Nvidia driver is 551.52.

I dont know what to do next.

Are any other games affected?

Hey,

It seams yes…PUBG crashes after a while…not as fast as wow, and is crashing not freezing like wow. On this game the fans of gpu are working(i mean i can hear them) on wow not anymore.

I have made some test on 2080ti stress test and it didn’t had problem.

I have switched the ram to check. Same fps drops

I have tested the GPU on other pc, it has no problem.

I have reseted windows and same problems occurring in wow. Didn’t test other games yet.

This so often fps drop happens on directx12, with directx 11 legacy it still happens but not so often. Lets say once 2 min while on directx 12 ever few seconds.

At this point i dont know if is a hardware problem or software

Please check your drivers:

It could be a driver issue and the FPS drops are a result of it restarting after a crash.

Have you checked Windows Event Viewer to see if there are any entries related to the graphics driver? If the driver is crashing it will likely show errors in there.

So it’s a general problem and not caused by WoW.

What exactly did you do?
Have you tried with and without XMP profile loaded?
Dual channel is on? Sticks are in the proper slots?

What RAM and mainboard do you have?
Bios updated?
Tried default settings?

Reset?
Probably best to just do a fresh and clean install, also use Win 10 if you can.

That’s not a fix anyways since it will kill your FPS.

What are the temps when playing?
