Is a 35” 21:9 UW 1440p monitor worth it for WoW immersion?
Worth it how? You get a bigger field of view. Is that more immersive? You tell me. Probably depends on your budget and what you already own in terms of monitor and hardware.
Personally I find WoW to be a very screen-centered game. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, but because of the way the gameplay is anchored to your character, you tend to have your eyes locked to the middle of the screen, and maybe observe a radius of 40 yards around it.
But from a sheer point of view of wanting to feel like you’re actually in Elwynn Forest, then the bigger the screen the better, I guess.
I play on 3440x1440 and it’s really nice. WoW supports ultrawide really well (not every game does that).
I’ll second that. I’m playing on an Acer XR341CK. Not only does UW give you a wider field of view, but I feel like the curvature adds a certain layer of depth to the scenery. I thoroughly enjoy it.
Worth a €1000 investment for a 144hz monitor that supports HDR.
What kind of question is this?
How can we decide what “worth” is to other people?
Are you on minimum wage with debt? Probably not “worth” it.
Are you really rich with bad eyesight so you won’t appreciate the difference? Probably not “worth” it.
Only you can decide if you are going to get value out of this.
WoW looks great in 21:9. It makes the beautiful environments even more immersive.
WoW’s UI supports all resolutions and aspect ratios very well. If you use a lot of addons, having more screen space is also very convenient.
Maybe you could just answer if its worth it for you?
As obviously you can not answer opinion questions for anyone but yourself…
I’ve recently switched to UW from a 4k screen and really like it so no regrets here. I just like how it adds that extra peripheral vision and WoW supports it very well. Also really handy for out of WoW work as well.
You don’t need to break the bank buying one either unless you MUST HAVE a silly priced high end one that gets you a lifetime subscription to the ‘seen them coming a mile off’ club.
I think you should go to a net lounge with one and try it for a good solid 4+ hours.
I tried it and absolutely hated it.
Some friends tried it and absolutely loved it.
