Why is this still a thing? It’s annoying af. I’m going back doing TB for commendations for the mount, but I can’t pick up more than 1 quest because of all the SL <azsxdfcgv i’ve got going on. So basically, the game forbids me from taking a break from current and going back to old content. It’s absurd really.
If not abolished entirely, the Q limit should be upped to 100 or 200 at least.
They shouldn’t. Although it may be an inconveniance for some people it is actually a part of wow which shouldn’t be taken away too. The game lost most of its soul and I do not want it to lose this part too.
It should be removed, there is no good reason to have the quest limit.
Or at least update it to 100 or so quests so that it’s not annoying to pick up quests and do them when you find yourself in the area of interest.
What I’d really like is an archived section in the log, where we banish quests that we have ever been on, but since abandoned. Broken down by expansion, zone, etc.
Right now, there’s a fear that abandoning a quest might mean being unsure where to get it again. Definitely happened to me a few months ago while going through the old Legion class chains. I’d parked my hunter class chain ages prior thinking I’d never do it, and really had a hard time finding it again.
Why on earth would anyone need 100 or 200 as a limit? There has been times I wished it was a little higher than 25, but for me it’s really not a problem.
When SOE owned Everquest 2, they reduced the quest limit considerably. They said it was because millons of inactive accounts with a lot of quests took too much server space. Maybe that’s Blizzard’s reason too?
Such as walking back to the dungeon from the spirit healer. If you don’t get it then you probably never will and also that is my viewing of the game which might differ from people to people.
I think WoW is the only game i know of that still has a quest limit. Even Rift, the game that spit in WoW’s face and got stomped on, didn’t have a quest cap. (It did have a cap for the amount of daily quests you could complete though, iirc)
I am (also) someone who likes revisiting areas and racks up quests from all kinds of places. I still have a WoD garrison quest and a quest from Siege of Orgrimmar that i never cashed in because i don’t like visiting an area that i haven’t visited before just to cash in a single quest. Yes, that’s a stupid reason, but the game should allow me to hoard quests like that instead of forcing me to choose. WoW is very old and rusty when it comes to quest management.
Some of us went for loremaster. I did. You cant abandon quests like that willy nilly. Some bug out. Some quests you had to find items in the world that drop randomly.
It is not as easy as just dropping quests when you are attempting loremaster.
There’s a lot that’s super lazy design wise when it comes to the quest log.
You should not have a quest limit like OP said, or make the limit by expansion.
You should be able to sort the quests by expansions and by zones.
With the limit abolished you could just have all the quests you want and have them inactive unless specified when you are outside of the expansions the quests were picked up in.
There should be an easy way to check the story of each expansion in the quest log, it’s there now and it should be the same for each expansion.
If a quest is abandoned (again if there was no limit this option could honestly just be deleted) then you should be able to see where in the story of each zone you left it so that it’s easy to pick up.
I know you can install addons that do some parts of what I mentioned, but since the game tracks your achievements progress on quests all the info is already there and should be easily accessible. I hated doing old content for loremaster before I found a quest tracking addon, doing every quest just in case you need it for the achievement is horrible, not to mention most of the bonus quests are kill x, gather y.
