Just as the title says. I have leveled and geared 9 chars during 9.0 to find the one i find the most fun and satisfying, and gotta say, i am in love with the current frost DK and only want to play this char whole 9.1.
However, the fact that Blizz brought back 2H, is literally killing the enjoyment of gearing my character. Today from this season’s first vault i got a 2H weapon, which is utterly useless, it is a DPS loss as you lose 1 major enchant, either Razorice or Fallen Crusader. The way i see it, none of the other classes suffer from this in such a way. Fury warriors can go Arms to get only 2H weapons, problem solved. I have absolutely no clue about WW monks, i can imagine for them 1H is top priority, but since they are just using “regular” enchants, the difference is quite far from the one we have as Frost (correct me fellow monks, if i’m wrong here).
The weekly rewards system is already painful in a lot of cases when you don’t get the loot you would prefer, however this is the RNG we signed up for since Legion, we have to deal with it, and i accept that. But having an extra level of disappointment when you finally get a weapon loot which is utterly useless, is just awful and kinda kills the excitement to do your weekly tasks for your “reward”.
I am in no position to rage or to cry, but i do ask the people responsible for such matters:
Either make it possible to combine 2 enchants on a 2Hander as frost, or please, at least let us filter weapon loot in any way so we don’t have to be disappointed by the scenario of getting a new weapon, which would make any other spec extremely happy…

I feel you mate. I had a 213 main hand with a blue 171 off hand at the beginning of 9.0 season. No new weapon dropped for nearly 3 weeks, not even in m0, it was so frustrating. Then finally, at the end of a ToP run, freaking 210 weapon drops unexpectedly. I was so happy i iterally started shouting at my computer. Then i realised its a damn two hander because tha dungeon has BOTH for the same spec…i haven’t played my DK ever since. This is just not fair. But don’t expect Blizz to do anything about it, maybe next expansion when they realise how stupid this is, but it will be sooo late by then. Either accept you gotta probably grind more then other spec’s, or change your char. Cheers!
I understand this is frustrating and i play unholy so i don’t suffer this but a good idea might be to go Frost 2h with Kyrian cov and obliteration build, it is performing really well currently, albeit not as good as BOS but it might help encourage you to use that 2h if you like Frost spec.
Until next expansion i don’t think we will see any changes sadly
That the “solution” to the problem is something like “re-level a whole covenant and change your build and playstyle” says a lot about how backwards Blizz’s logic is, jesus.
And that’s not a jab at you at all, because you just want to help the guy and you’re right, it’s the only “logical” solution.
Honestly though, if you enjoy the dw playstyle keep looking for the weapons, it’s a pain in the butt (I also got a 242 two hander this week in the vault and ditched it) but I’d rather do that than play something I don’t enjoy that much.
100% agree it is a terrible, flawed and overall just not enjoyable system. For example, my friend wants to play his Shaman, but he can’t play both Enhance/elemental because each ones BIS cov is the worst for the other spec or there abouts…
I don’t get who on the design team thinks this is a good idea time and time again when the player base hates being locked into 1 thing that makes a huge difference to the overall performance of your character…
In all honesty, i would rather they just flat out nerf all covenants so they’re all not that impactful on the overall playstyle of the class…
Hopefully in 9.2 they put a lot more focus into tier sets and we gain power and different playstyles through that. In legion they really nailed the tier sets and how the weapons worked with power spikes
I am aware of 2H Obliteration, but Necrolord Breath “everything on a 2 min macro” build is just extreme fun with amazing numbers. Guess i’ll just have to cope with the situation, it’s not the end of the world, just annoying. I guess if u love a spec that much you just go on with it.
Still, fingers crossed they to something about it in this xpac (doubt it tho).
well if u find enjoyable running SD it has only 1H and also with mastery/crit
PL also only drops 1H but versa/haste.
the remainer dungs share 2H and 1H drops at the end. SD might be the best bet.
Yeah, im aware of the loot table, using the exact two 1 handers you have mentioned
Since you can’t upgrade to 252 using valor, the only real option in the long run is the vault and mythic raiding, both having the possibilities of dropping those unneeded 2 handers.
Also to people advising on 2H Frost: check Subcreation, literally no one uses 2H, like around 2%, and i can imagine they do it cause they just can’t find a better option then their unwanted 252 ilvl 2H weps for now…
