Q : Will this mean that people who do professions will also get a headstart on others who have NOT purchased the 3 day EA version?? Or are professions locked until the game has “officially” been released to the masses?
Nothing will be locked out for people during the Early Access. I’ve never seen this happen in any game, where you pay to gain early access over others who just bought the normal version/waiting for the f2p version to start.
If they were to lock out aspects of a game in early access, which people paid for, I think they’d have less sales from maybe a small number of people, but people would still buy early access at the end of the day.
So if people want to grind out their professions in those 3 days, then they can do that. However, I doubt you’ll see people will all aspects of their professions unlocked and already selling the best crafted items by the time the rest of the player base enters the game.
Just focus on yourself, rather than what Joe Nobody is going to do.
There has been no confirmation on this or at least that I know of.
The 3 day early access so far they have only confirmed it is for levelling. No access to any end game pillars and with that I am assuming NO access to crafting skills either. This would again put everyone at a big disadvantage like the early exploit on DF launch.
Can you link confirmation to this ? As far as I know there is no confirmation on it.
If they’re restricting access to content that they’re selling in a product, which gains you early access to the game, they do need to provide the information as to what people should or shouldn’t expect from their purchase.
Think about it from a US players point of view, they’d open a class action lawsuit for false advertising.
I can promise you 1 billion percent, that nothing is going to be locked out. There is no link because Blizzard have no plans to lock out content. There is no “time gating” during a 3 day early access. Players will be able to do whatever they want within the boundaries of the game.
Quote from this article : "Players will be unable to do Mythic 0/Mythic+ dungeons, loot the best items from rares, access weekly profession cooldowns and profession specialization points
Going to read that now, but first need to deal with this child who is wanting a snack!
EDIT:
Oh very interesting! That will be the first time I’ve seen an early access game block access to some content.
- The overall goal of the early access period is to not provide a long-term advantage. By the time Season One begins, players should not be able to tell who had early access and who did not.
People will know who purchased early access… mounts/cosmetics/already being max level etc. Bit a weird take from Ion there!
- Blizzard added early access to help players with less time, who might fall behind during the initial launch week of an expansion and miss out on dungeons with their friends.
Again very strange take to have, then why not start the game 3 days earlier, if you know what I’m trying to say xD
But the blocking of profession points, ok, access to weekly profession cooldowns ok, but that will not stop people from leveling up their professions and obtain patterns, farming mats ready to burn through that part of the games content, when the lock has been removed.
So people will have progressed their professions and farmed materials, so it’s not a 100% profession lock out.
Will cause the same drama as the exploits early on in DF.
Because then the same players are behind again?
If you let those players in to level 3 days before they might reach level cap and be able to play the current content when it unlocks (Season 1) while otherwise they’d be lvling the entire time and then having a hard time getting into content cause everyone is locked for the week of M0.
Highly unlikely, but I know what you’re trying to say. But Season 1 won’t unlock that quickly, so people with limited play time, I imagine will hit level cap pretty quickly. After all it’s WoW, so max level within 5 hours
Depends on realm, say you’re on Draenor which usually have massive queues on expansion release and you work 8 hours, get home at peak time and queue for 2-3 hours then maybe you get to play for an hour with hundreds of other people competing for mobs… Could take a while to level, even more so if you’re pretty casual about it.
I doubt it will be as bad as it used to be, but I really do see your point of view.
I just see it from another point, where people who can’t play that much, will still be able to get to max level pretty quickly. I just find the reason for early access is due to those individuals, was just amusing
The real reason being “We want more money from people, who think it’s going to make a difference!”.
At the end the day, we’ll all be finishing the content, finding something to complain about, do Season 1 keys, do the raid, quit playing for a few months, return with season 2, rinse & repeat
I dont think an mmo rpg should have buyable early acces so you can enter before others.
the first thing i do at the beginning of an expansions is basicly farm mats non stop because prices and demands are high. You can make a whole lot of gold early in an expansion. Being able to farm 3 days before all other people can give you a massive profit. Its pay to win.
I am kind of concidering of buying the 3 day early acces because i most likely will be able to earn the 100 bucks back + future game times trough the gold id make of it
Really a 3 day early acces shouldnt be happening in an mmo rpg with a player driven economy
Yep, sound like a plan OMG, if you have the time. Only problem is I have already made the decision to not continuse with TWW as it’s not for me anymore. Once my game time is up Im outta here.
You are right.
Yes, it is.
This is why it will be a huge commercial success for WoW team, and the reason why it will keep happening from now on. Ther’s little to no uproar, and even people who think i’ts bad for the game still buy it/consider buying it.
I stopped buying games with early access and I no longer prepurchase games, as most of the time you find out the game utter trash, like Diablo 4 for example.
If someone else buys the game for me, like my wife or a family member/friends, then I won’t say no, it’s there money at the end of the day and it’s something they wanted to do.
I just don’t waste my own money xD
Which is fine imo, the main issue to me would be gaining a advantage from early access that normal players cannot catch up on, for example because the people who paid for early access have an extra weekly reset to do weekly profession quests in.
If they are not going to put in any catchup as they did through all of dragonflight then that would become a permanent advantage.
I can outmine those 3 days of early access you had in the course of an expansion, but I will never be able to catch up on that weekly profession quest that was only accessible to early access
I feel like if that was possible, it would be too much damage to the integrity of the game so I’m glad they made that restriction.
To answer your 'why not start the game 3 days earlier for everyone then". The reason they give is a marketable one, the actual one is simply because people will pay for it.
The thing is even with or without restrictions in place, some individuals will find something to complain about due to those people being able to access the game 3 days earlier.
I saw this in New World & Lost Ark (both those games are different to WoW in a lot of ways of course), which I had early access too and I remember the forums were full of people whining about it.
