+30% health removed, physical/magic reduction upped to 50/60%

so uhh… how are we feeling about this?

kinda seems like the lazy man’s way out of balancing the pvp scene.
specs like enhancement shaman was just put in the grave, cus they were already underperforming damage-wise in pvp.

now their damage is nerfed even further and the bonus health is removed.

paladins and hunters most likely still able to clap people in 2-3 gcds instead of 1.

tanks just got omegabuffed in pvp lol.
like, good luck if you don’t have mortal strike or sunder armor against them.

I wasn’t even aware that they previously increased the health buff from 30% to (apparently “up to”) 50%.

It seems to me that once again Blizzard is showing that their interest in PvP is nonexistent.

Instead of just tweaking the specs that were too bursty, they’ve decided to lower everyone’s health and damage, pretending that this will make matches longer when that has never been the problem.

Because the real problem is that one class can deal the same amount of damage in 2 seconds that another class takes 6 seconds to do—in PvP, burst is paramount.

But you know how it is—they’re always going to prioritize keeping the balance in PvE, and if doing so ends up wrecking PvP, well, so be it; they don’t care at all. We’re second- or third-class players to them.

Think harder.

Just tried out a bg. Seems pretty good tbh dmg wise. I think healing needs a tweak as well as block as resto druids are unkillable even in crap gear. Tanks block too much dmg.

But otherwise pretty good change so far.

Past the moment of surprise, it looks like it doesn’t change much.
We have less HP but deal less damage. I’ll try some more this week to have a better feel but it doesn’t really change the meta. I guess the good thing is that WB and flasks don’t boost even more our HP.

What I’m really upset about though is that there is 0 communication anymore. You guys change things without announcing it anywhere. I thought for like 10 minutes that my addons were bugged and didn’t show the bonus HP in BG. Then I wondered why I dealt - 70% damage on my main spells to finally realise they had changed the way HP/damage work in BG.

FFS just communicate once in a while and not just through your twitters. We have those forums dedicated to WoW SoD - would it kill you to use them ?

As long as we get a 50% nerf to healing as well im game to try it

I didn’t think rogues can get more gimped compared to classic but Aggrend outdoes himself again this time. Pls make a petition to remove this man from the SoD project because all he does is buff hybrids and nerf pure dps classes i swear!
Seems like he didn’t get the memmo that if u got crazy utility u should be doing 50% less dmg then the rest that got no utility!

Havent gotten around seeing this in openworld but my god the TLDR can be basically:

  • tanks even stronger
  • healers getting buffed
  • same balance issues remain

If SoD PvP were to be personified it would look like a mummy from all the band aid patches applied.

so uhh yesterday i pvp’d a shaman who was running pvp spec with pvp gear and riptide.
he put my bis geared shaman tank in the dirt by token of simply outhealing all the damage i could do to him with mostly just spamming riptide.
i tried going enhancement against him (also nearly bis geared) and that performed even worse.

i mean sure, his character was optimized for pvp while mine wasn’t, and he was playing ele/resto hybrid, but it was still extremely one-sided.

guess its time to go finish ranking my priest while healing is blatantly OP and damage is the lowest its ever been.

ah you finally figured it out, also this is what happens when you dont nerf healing.

i think its more of a problem with not nerfing healing while also reducing all damage inflicted by all sources.

doesn’t take a genius to work out the results, hence why even you were able to predict the outcome without any testing.

they tried it in p3 and it backfired badly, any caster hybrid with good selfsustain was basically the nightmare of everyone else.
they prolly not gonna revert it

They’ll simply never balance PvP with a blanket nerf. We said it since day 1 when they implemented it.
Sure it helps overall not to get globalled as easily but the imbalance will have to be adressed in a more precise manner.
