This isn’t a complaint or a rage post it’s merely my personal curiosity to see if many other DK’s have noticed the same lack of knowledge from other classes.
For context I recently timed a +12 PF the dungeon was going pretty well but as with anything in that dungeon something random happened I died, healer died and by the time we both were almost back the tank died along with another dps.
Now I stopped as I knew if we ran in it was gonna be that typical “wipe 5 times on a trash pack ruin the key” and so the did the healer but then he asked me why didn’t I just CR the tank and was seemingly shocked when I told him my CR wasn’t free and needed runic power to use.
This isn’t the first time this has happened (Also should be noted I’m not a good enough player to keep spare RP all the time in case a CR is needed) and every time I’m questioned about a delayed CR and I explain it’s not free people seem totally unaware that 30 RP CR is a thing.
So my question is have many other of you DK players come across this as often as I seem to do?
You’re a Blood Elf, your CR is easier to get.
With that said… it’s true, not many know that Death Knight combat res needs RP to get it off.
If was convenient when, back in BFA, Druids were META healers; the times you used your combat res were limited compare to now.
Unholy is in a good spot PvE wise, it also bring utility in form of Grip, AMZ, range kick that works like a melee kick and combat res.
You should be aware of your utility and assumed groups rely on your CR; if you see Tanks doing dangerous pulls be ready and save at least Arcane Torrent to get it faster.
So decreasing the DPS, by not using full RP, to prepare for when the tank dies, helped by low dps, loses all buffs, rez than dies again because of no buffs.
Is that right?
I’m on the - use RP effectively and if someone dies try to get RP to rez - way of thinking.
And yes, it’s bad that they put 30 RP cost on it while giving un nothing in return
This is extremelly annoying. You are already trying to deal with a incoming wipe situation + having to sometimes farm 30 more runic power. I honestly hope it gets removed soon. Could cost 5% hp instead for example.
Yeah its stupid and annoying especially because other classes use it freely. I always get that “bruh u so slow with CR are u clicking it” and none of them know it cost quite a lot especially as an unholy I never have 30rp randomly for the cr. It should be free like for everyone else just the same bs unfair thing like with death pact and other things about the dks we can’t have anything without some major drawback while other classes rarely if they even have any ability with negative effect.
And don’t forget that when the tank dies the mobs somehow always start to focus us, probably because of the cleave aggro but that doesn’t matter when we have 1 gcd before dying to get rp and then use the CR so mostly impossible to ress tanks.
i’ve had people raging at me before for not CRing them, whilst being stuck in range avoiding a deadly mechanic, and not being able to use melee abilities to obtain the RP. Just like you said, ,most people are unaware.
I appreciate ours is an instant cast, but the cost is annoying. Maybe if it cost one rune instead it would at least be available for when we stuck at range.
this is exactly what I thought, also made one alt DK and spend hours farming as many pots as possible, it was quite nice while it lasted
as for topic itself - yes it is very annoying to use resource which we are mostly spamming for damage and do not always have to CR someone, that said only option is to try conserve that 30 RP which is sometimes very hard to do while trying to chase that DPS, yeah
