3d accelerator card not working, Windows 7

Hi everyone, I am trying to download Wow onto my pc which is using Windows 7- very old I know. Whenever I press Play after downloading the game, I get the pop-up saying “Your 3d accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft”. I followed what I saw online which told me to find the wow.exe file on my hard drive, right click and under compatibility select “disable full screen optimizations”. The problem is, I don’t seem to have the wow.exe file, only World of Warcraft Launcher. Ive tried doing what they suggest online with World of Warcraft Launcher but it doesnt work. Ive tried re downloading & playing the game as an administrator through steam but nothing seems to work.

Let me know if anyone knows how to fix this!

It usually means that your graphics card driver is out of date.

It can also mean that you are running a 32 bit version of Windows 7 which I don’t believe is supported anymore.

Finally, it can also mean that you have overlays running which can interfere with World of Warcraft.

Thanks for your reply. Do I need to update the graphics card driver? Do you know what I can do to fix it?

Thanks,
M

Yes, the driver should even notify you about updates.

What’s your GPU?

Only if Geforce Experience is installed with the driver.

But yes, we need more info about the hardware and windows version.

This probably goes without saying, but you shouldn’t be running WIn7 anymore for obvious reasons. Upgrade to Linux distro of your choice if Win10 is not your piece of cake
