3D Print of WoW Character

Hey all,
So one of my best friends I’ve been playing WoW with for over 10 years met her fiancé on WoW a few years back and are getting married this summer. I would love to get them a 3D print of both their toons as part of their wedding gift.
Has anyone got any experience in this and would know of any reputable company that would make them ?

First thing you’d need tbh is permission from Blizzard, otherwise it may get ugly legally.

As long he doesn’t intend to sell them, there’s no legal issue here …

I’d double check tbh, because it is still Blizzards property and the company he gets to make it for him are going to sell it.

Obviously I don’t intend on selling them as it would be a wedding gift for both of them. I did have a look at FigurePrints, but the backlog and customer feedback indicates that I probably wouldn’t even receive the items on time =[
Hmm, perhaps a commissioned piece of WoW art would be easier to obtain, could get both their toons together on one piece of artwork. Have you ever purchased a piece of commissioned piece of wow art before and if so I would love some recommendations =]

Visit local digital printing and photography shop, they do it in less than one hour.

Figureprints is terribly outdated, they still use the old pre-WoD models and I think they don’t even do Pandaren. Half of my characters show an error when I try to create one on their website.

Art is a lot easier to come by and models seldom look amazing. Better off asking the forum for artists who take commissions or looking on DeviantArt. My info may be outdated though.

3d printing quality isn’t satisfying imo. It requires lot of work to generate perfect model of char in software. After that colouring should be realistic.

I suggest just buy some statue/weapon from blizzard store if it comes into ur budget. Those are above average quality and worth gifting.

There’s a lot of really good artists on Twitter or try searching Etsy.

I have a figureprint of my main (the char i’m posting with), it was a gift for my birthday in the first months of LK (she’s in full naxx gear standing next to me :smiley:). It’s the old model troll, it was made by figureprints dot com
The mentioned site was once supported with a link on the armory so the mentioned legal issues shouldn’t be a problem. However the state of the site now, i took a look, they haven’t updated their models to the new models we have now which makes me wonder what happened there.

I was impressed with her work. So maybe find out more about commission work. I’m sure there are plenty of great artists out there, seen a few over the years. But I don’t bookmark or try to remember them. This one was fairly recent for me to recall. :stuck_out_tongue:
