4k Monitor

Well G-sync only works with DP afaik.
Freesync also works with HDMI.
DP supports longer cables.
HDMI can also transmit audio which DP does not, but who really uses speakers within a display
The important thing is to make sure you get the latest version of hdmi or DP cables for 144hz to work at 1440P.

Aww okay thanks! Is Gsync preferable to FreeSync?

I think I’ve read online it comes with both HDMI and DP so fingers crossed.

The LG is G-sync compatible which is best for your RTX 2060.

Ah nice, I’ll get it set up with a DP then! Will I have to download any software to enable Gsync or will the monitor just have an option in display modes, based on your experience with LGs?

You just enable gsync in the nvidia driver panel, thats it.

GL w/ this… if it ever gets resolved.

Got the monitor up and running now - looks muuuch more smooth than the 60hz 4k monitor. I can notice a slight decrease in sharpness from the reduction in resolution but I definitely agree with you guys that the 144hz is worth it.

I’ve set it up with DisplayPort as I’ve realised it only operates at 60hz through HDMI o.o

You need a better HDMI cable then. But just stick with DP so you can use g-sync.

Think I got the Asus PG279Q which can overclock to 165hz. 1440p Gsync monitor. I did look at the 4K ones but decided to stick with the 1440p instead.

Having it locked at higher framerates is really great when you’re playing shooters. So if your system can handle it, you get some more reaction time to say someone on 60hz on games like Overwatch or any other online shooter.

Having G-sync on always does help make things smoother when browsing and doing other tasks as well.
