Snowclaw cub is very strong against ape so I used 3 pets.
I dont remember excatly, but hope it helps you and you need to figure out what you can do better, unfortunately rng sometimes.
Terky (lucky dance and then stun to swap in ape?!)
Gurgl (whirlpool, stun or punch)
Snowclaw Club (try to use freeze and flash freeze on cd)
It was around 3-4 weeks ago I completed that quest!

Yeah the snowclaw cub worked way better for me as well.
Only lost one pet and utterly destroyed his first two
I was using these 3 according to the guide below: Spyragos, Nelthara, Wicker Pup
I don’t do pet battles so I needed a guide. Won at first attempt, so the guide is probably correct but Jeremy did not offered the quest or gave me the muffin. As I read many has this problem, seemingly everything was done correctly, but at the end there is no reward.
Another buggy mess of a content patch. I read that some players have needed to do the steps for 4 O’clock twice. Maybe sometimes the pylon lights up but the game doesn’t register that you’ve completed it.
Alternatively, I did this at the Darkmoon Fair - maybe it’s less buggy that way and will work for you in January.
I’d suggest logging a ticket… but I’m still waiting on the TW badges that went missing during a transfer between characters a month ago, so I wouldn’t expect that to help.

Today I went there again for an other try and Jeremy already waited me offering the quest! I just had to complete it without fighting again.
So probably there is a bug with registering that you done the part but after the daily reset it registers anyway
