5 target aoe capping will kill this game

Fury warrior for example capped with 5 target, still working fine. Drama much?

Well this isn’t the first time Blizz is making changes to AoE. Won’t be the last either. The players got over the past changes to AoE and AoE abilities, same will happen this time :slight_smile:

I’m not enthusiastic about this change. It feels more like something done to affect the MDI and slow down high end groups that do skilled large pulls.

Furry is dead in SL because arms has 2 aoe abilities with 8 target cap :slight_smile:

guys, stop complaining, the more you complain the worse they do.

in a few months they will make dungeons where a pack of 5 mobs needed 3 of them to be sheeped/sapped/trapped like in TBC

I don’t really care about this change regarding dungeons and raids, as I usually don’t pull more than 5 mobs anyway, but damn, this will slow down the open world and legacy content clear. I enjoyed AoEing down 20 naga in Nazjatar.

All in the name of E-sports so people going nuts can’t do big pulls. Saw it coming as soon as I saw huge pulls in M+ and the tournaments.

Why? Marksman had a 3-5 aoe cap in BFA and i’ve played marksman more than other hunter specs. The AoE cap will sotp people sperging on certain affixes and pulling half a dungeon and force them to consider their actions more.

It seems some of you have forgot how we played this game in the earlier expansions. One group at a time or you wipe. No more moronic and boring full pull through a dungeon with dps and healers lacking behind.

But it should be limited to dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds/arenas only.

I’m just a beta healer main, but what the F are they thinking with this aoe cap??
It must be so unsatisfying to use aoe spells. I think at this point blizzard need to be carefull what they do now , when the game is in such a bad state : )

If it is aimed for those MDI pro players then maybe they can further reduce their gearing instead of ruining the game for everyone.

I know they said they wouldn’t ever release on console but they could always change their mind.

At this point I’m already expecting a flat nerf to all AoE like what ESO has done.

Blizzard logic:
1: Let’s put 500 mobs between you and the final boss.
2: Are you sure? We have pretty good AoE you know…
1: You know, you’re right. We’ll cap AoE at 5 targets!
2: But-
1: Yes, I’m sure it will be all okay.
2: No, it-
1: Now that I think about it, 500 is too little, let’s make it 5000 trash mobs.
2: FUFUFUFUFU!

PS: most of the players pay little to no attention to changes like this. ESPECIALLY if they haven’t played for a while, or have played on a level of gear that makes such considerations useless. THEY WILL NOT CHANGE HOW THEY OPERATE. It will just take that much longer and put that much more stress on the healer to clear out those large pulls.
I’ve recently tried tanking as a way to level up quicker. The last time I tanked was before the squish, and nowadays some instances are just EXTREMELY HARD since post squish they were not balanced properly. But can you explain that to your brain-dead party? NO. They pull FOR you, pull every effin thing in sight, and let the tank take 10% of his HP in a single hit from 20+ mobs and then just complain and kick tank because he was ā€œuselessā€.
Back in my day when mobs were too hard, we just had people CC some of the mob pack! It’s especially bad in places like Stratholme where you have interconnected packs of 8+ mobs, with half of them being casters. They USED TO have low HP so you could mow them down relatively fast. Now? They hit like trucks and take like 50 seconds to kill when the group actually focuses on them. As of right now? Every dps picks different target, running around like headless chicken. They just blame tank or healer, when it’s in fact their own impatience that’s hindering the group. I’d be perfectly content pulling from behind a corner to get those casters grouped, put some CC on a mob… NO. As soon as a dps sees a mob under CC, they immediately tag it to break it out because it’s ā€œsnail’s paceā€ for them.

And people wonder why I prefer to play SOLO. Can’t wait for Torghast, because majority of players are redacted! It’s come to a point when I rather just quest my way to max level rather than using dungeons.

As long as it is in ways that make sense, it’ll be fine. As Blizzard said - it’s not just about the dps cap, but also the encounter design. I prefer aoe capping to the alternative, which we have right now - annoying trash pulls. They even went out and said the way visions are designed is because without all of the garbage there, there is only one possible strategy - gather up and aoe everything down.

The main issue here is that every class that doesn’t have strong aoe is at a severe disadvantage. So in order for classes to be equal, all classes have to become aoe classes, which on the flipside will make them feel too samey. It seems Blizzard is trying to bring class variety back, and that’s good. Right now, more or less every class is good at everything and this imo is killing the game.

I hope so. And I hope their other games will continue to decline!
